I have a Symfony2 folder running in the "platform" sub-directory of the main web root. The main front controllers (app.php and app_dev.php) reside in "platform/web" folder. This would be /var/www/platform/web.
The domain name is mapped to the web root and I'm trying to use mod_rewrite to internally rewrite certain requests which contain "profile" in the url to Symfony. So mydomain.com/profile/ should call Symfony.
The reason why Symfony is not in the root as there are other parts of the site which dont run via symfony, and using a subdomain is not an option.
The issues are:
1) unless app.php or app_dev.php are explicitly called in the URL, the rewritten url does not seem to resolve.
2) even if it is included in the url, the url is being truncated by 5 characters by the time it hits Symfony. For example mydomain.com/profile/app.php/hello should work but would only works if infact you inject an extra 5 characters, for example: mydomain.com/profile/app.php/1234/hello
The server is LAMP running Ubuntu. You will need to have ssh to be able to access it.
