I have a unique project that requires someone who can troubleshoot current workflow and provide a fix.
Applicants should have a understanding of Shell, AVID and the AVID MXF files it creates. Any software or codec that is created must be compatible with Mac OSX 10.7.
My current workflow:
I currently have a Mac based video transcoding system that uses Shell scripts with a combination of programs and codecs to combine and transcode Avid created MXF files into MOV files.
With the help of one of my software vendors I was able to narrow my problem to invalid AVID created MXF files. Occasionally AVID creates MXF files that do no have a footer index file. Not having that part of the MXF file renders it useless for my purpose of transcoding because my softwares cannot read the media. However, Avid can read these seemingly invalid files just fine from within their own software.
My goal is to gain an understanding as to why Avid can read these invalid files and use that understanding to create a codec or some sort of software that will allow me to use these seemingly corrupted MXF files outside of AVID Media Composer. I'd like to be able to play these MXF files that do not contain a footer index in the Quicktime player as I can do with other "healthy" MXF files.
A secondary but realistic option is the possibility of creating a "washer" program that will fix these invalid MXF files and make them readable. If this is a easier option I will certainly be open to choosing this route for the project direction.
I can give those interested in this project a list of the software I use to complete the transcoding of Avid MXF files into MOV files. I also have working MXF files and invalid MXF files to be used for testing.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Project payment will be payed in 3 installments. $500 to begin the project , $250 midway through the project and $250 at the project completion.
Completion time-frame of job as well as budget is open to negotiation.
