Hi. Among other things, I run a small non-profit press that publishes poetry. We're in need of some work creating a book cover using existing images and some really rough discussion on what we'd like to see.
Attached is one of the images to be used. There are 4-6 of these "masks" that we want in a repeating pattern. Something like a grid format, sort-of like the Iron and Wine album cover here: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/5e/Iron_%26_Wine_-_Woman_King.jpg
But instead of the wooden framework, I was thinking about neon tubing with soft bright edges, or brightly colored thick rope, or yarn, or twist-threaded colored wire or even gimp or licorice or pencils that are brightly colored and enhanced. A touch of the modern and surreal to blend and gently clash with the neo-primitive feeling of the mask images.
I would expect to handle at least a few revisions.
Ideally, you'd provide source files that could be edited with GIMP (i.e. Photoshop or GIMP.)
Unfortunately, the pay probably isn't going to be great, but you will receive credit within the book for your contribution, mention on the site, and if the chance arises, I'd recommend you to others or hire you again myself.
