I own a fitness equipment company in the USA, but I will be visiting China on March 3-7 to look at factories that produce the products we sell. We are a small/medium sized importer that started last year, but I've never been to China. The products are items like kettlebells, medicine balls, jump ropes, and simple items like that. I need someone who can translate if needed, and more importantly someone with experience understanding the difference between a good factory and a bad one.
I understand exactly what I need for the products I sell, I just need to get an idea if the factory seems well run, and maybe some tips on negotiating price, quality, etc... I want to try and deal directly with the factories, rather than trading companies.
Ideally you would also be able to check up on the factories after we place our order so that we can ensure they are making the products to our specifications and to avoid problems when it's time to ship. We would also like someone to do a final inspection before the goods are loaded onto the container.
I have two primary locations I need to visit, so this position is open to 2 people: Shanghai and surrounding areas (all within 1 hour by car), and Rizhao.
I am not exactly sure how many days I will be in each location yet, but it will tentatively be March 4 and part of March 5 in Shanghai, and March 6 in Rizhao.
