We are 3 man scrappy startup from New York City called Datacoup. Of the 3 members, 1 is a full stack dev (me) and the other two can contribute on html / css. We require builds frequently, so we're looking for a junior - senior level programmer who can contribute code routinely with me. A good fit would evolve to a long term relationship.
Our stack is composed of Rails, Mongodb, MySQL, AngularJS, Sidekiq, Rspec, and Redis. We have a pretty decent Rspec coverage on our app, and we would only want to see it get better. So some usage of testing is a requirement. I try to integrate best practices and commonly used design patterns like services, single responsibility and presenters wherever possible. I also love refactoring. Whenever I feel my code was made better with modifications, I feel so satisfied. Code cleanliness is always desired but I'm also realistic about deadlines and productivity.
You would only need to help code for us. Don't worry about configuring servers, fixing databases or acting as devops.
The workflow is pretty standard. It starts with high commit activity to github with good practices on branch creation and pull requests. We don't have a testing server, although that is something we're considering soon. Sometimes we deploy even if we find failing tests, due to our constant deployments. We deploy using capistrano almost everyday, several times to staging and once to production.
We have hipchat or skype when we need to communicate. Basecamp, unfortunately is our project management system, (i wish we can use something else). So I'll write tasks / user stories / bug reports there.
We'll take our time finding the right candidate, so interviews and discussions could potentially feel long. Apologies ahead of time.
We use good technologies and experiment with new, so you'll have fun.
