I am a commercial real estate appraiser working in Northern California and I am seeking a research assistant to help with repetitive research projects and to proof reports before they are delivered to the client. This is a ongoing position. I estimate there will be 5 to 10 hours of work weekly, with a new project each week.
Responsibilities and available work will build as acumen and work ethic is demonstrated.
Each project will begin with your research. I have developed step by step guides that illustrate how you should conduct initial research. I will perform fine-tuning myself - you'll be a "big picture" person.
Your research will involve using:
- the internet
- a remote desktop
- password protected online real estate databases
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
After your research is performed and delivered to me, I will evaluate the content and complete my appraisal using the data you delivered. Once, I finish the appraisal you will then proof read the document. In that way you will be able to see how your initial work contributes to the final outcome. Hopefully it will help you develop your researching skills as well.
Proof Reading will entail me sending you a Word document via drop box. You will evaluate the document based on a provided outline looking for continuity, completeness, spelling and grammar.
Familiarity with common commercial real estate terms and property types is a huge plus.
Examples of property types to research include: strip-retail, retail condominium, multi-tenant office, mixed-use, limited-service hotel, apartment, restaurant. The project will vary each week.
Examples of common real estate terms include: Capitalization Rate, Gross SF or Building Size, Lot Size, Acre, FAR, Sales Price, Sales Date, to name a few.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can follow directions, use judgement when needed and can build their knowledge base and aptitude on the job.
