Qualified candidate will have experience in various indoor navigation technologies. App will be used to locate emergency personnel in high rise office buildings.

Navigation technologies we are interested should use a combination of sensor data to achieve the most accurate results. Technologies like 'fused sensors' and the Kalman filter http://sourceforge.net/projects/jkalman/ and http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/326657/KalmanDemo and http://www.thousand-thoughts.com/2012/03/android-sensor-fusion-tutorial/ may prove useful and are well documented throughout the Internet. These approaches combine inertial sensor data i.e. gyro, accelerometer and compass measurements while filtering noise to get better results.

Other techniques to determine a users position should include cellular network based positioning (for example based on GSM), positioning methods based on signal strength measurements of wireless local area networks (for example Wi-Fi), Bluetooth-based positioning (using Bluetooth Low Energy transmitters or BTLE) and proximity sensing based on RFID tags.

Apps in the Google Play store that perform similar functions (and are worth reviewing) are:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sails.buildngo
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ladiesman217.indoorgps

Successful candidate must have a device with internal sensors for testing.
