I have expirience in IT area from 1997 when I began to work as a programmer. Of course many technologies and tools obsoleted, so I review only my works in last four years. They are: * Architect REST services with docs in UML. I made scalable architectures for websites and middleware for video streaming service (OTT). Used software: Mongo, Postgres, Redis, Memcached, Nginx. * Program serverside in Go language. I skilled with programming webservices (HTTP(S), Websockets, JSON, Google Protocol buffers) in Linux environment. * Program utilities for automated load testing of webservices. I created tests specific for server API over HTTP and Websockets. * Integrate your software with Zabbix monitoring. * Automate sysadmin tasks in Unix environment with Python/Bash. * Set up GNU/Linux environment (Gentoo, Debian distro) for web (LAMP, Nginx). * Set up security environment for webapps with modsecurity, fail2ban, ACLs. * Script helper tools for Emacs Lisp. I have expirience in teamwork with agile methodologies like scrum and canban. I used RedMine, Jira and other tools for teamwork and used Git, Bzr and Darcs versioning control software. If I can define architecture of a new project I will prefer to use opensource software stack because I have good knowledge of opensource world and sometimes create sofware under free licenses. I can speak English basically but poorly understand verbal speech but I have no problem with text communication. Email or chat in irc, google, jabber, skype avaliable. I love my work in IT. And I liked when created by me software increase productivity of your business.

Elite developer with a robust skill set: PHP, Groovy, Perl, and more

    United States - Tests: 5

I have over 10 years development experience in challenging work environments in various sizes and industries. To give you an idea about my self, I am a very driven and dedicated individual who loves the IT field. I started down the path of IT at a very young age, built my first computer when I was 12, coded my first website back in ‘98 when I was 13 and decided this was the field for me. I learn new technologies swiftly and with ease as a result, I’ve become an expert in many different programming languages, databases, and tool sets. So much so that it’s difficult to list them all. This list contains the popular technologies I am well versed in Groovy, Perl, Java, PHP, Grails, Python, Bash, ASP, .NET, HTML, Javascript, AJAX, mySQL, SQL, Oracle, Mongo, AWS, Puppet, and the various frameworks/libraries that these technologies work well with like jQuery, node.js, boto, Moose, etc. I believe in delivering a quality product no matter how small so, my code always is always tested and shipped with unit tests and whatever form of testing is best suited for the application ie. integration tests, mocked tests, functional tests, system tests. I currently work remotely as a Continuous Delivery Architect for Scripps Networks (foodnetwork.com, food.com, hgtv, etc) so, I am accustomed to delivering products in a timely and efficient manner while not physically present at the office. I am developing in Java, Groovy, Gradle, Python, Bash, and Grails on a daily basis along with a long list of other responsibilities including managing releases, coordinating with development teams, automating deployments and environment creation, etc. I also work extensively with cloud computing (Amazon Web Services) ranging from automating cloud stack creations to simply restarting instances using both the Java API and Boto library for Python. I’ve also worked as a lead build engineer at Siemens Medical Solutions for a little over 6 years and GSI Commerce (now owned by eBay) in similar types of roles. Where automation and tooling is the name of the game. I developed and supported over 20 different web apps in various languages PHP, ASP, .NET, Grails with differing back ends SQL, mySQL, and Oracle.

    Software Engineer

Curious creature. Explore, learn, do, be better, iterate. Curiosity always got me going and pushed me further. I learned latin alphabet by myself when I was six years old because I did not want to wait for my parents to come from work and help me start a game on my Commodore 64. But then, I discovered some funny words from a book that came with Commodore. It was Basic programming language and it all started then for me when I typed a program from a book that drew some balloons and played music. I made my first personal website in elementary school (which is still online :), dabbled with many technologies, fell in love with chess (and made a chess AI) and astronomy. Looking at the starry night always reminds me of how small we are and how humble we should be. Over the years I used software engineering to solve some of my personal problems, to solve some problems in companies I worked for, build systems, breaking things in the process, learning, improving. I do not like to associate myself with one technology ecosystem. My stance is that technology we use is just a tool to solve our real life problem or satisfy our hunger for learning and thinkering. We must not tie our self to just one set of tools. Having said that, I have built systems with various programming languages (Java, Python, C#, C...) and using different databases (MySQL, Oracle, MSSQL, Postgresql, Redis, Memcached, Mongo...), messaging systems (JMS, ActiveMQ, ZeroMQ), and using many more libraries and tools to satisfy the actual and current requirements. I am always open to learning new stuff. In fact, that is one of the things that motivates me greatly on the job, possibility to learn and improve. I really love, and am motivated, to be in a team of highly intelligent and skilled people, and working on a problem that I can relate to or find it a problem worth solving. “All grown-ups were once children... but only few of them remember it.” ― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

  7. David Edson

    David Edson

    Solution Specialist

    Australia - Portfolio: 1

Hello, My name is David Edson and I would like to share with you my passion and enthusiasm for information technology. Over the past 25 years I've boiled down the IT world into three simple principals, getting the right information, to the right person, at the right time. There are many technologies, skills and procedures that can be applied to achieving these goals and I have specialised in the enterprise solutions for BPM, SOA, XML and SDLC to define, validate and implement solutions that help your business get better quality data to the most appropriate role in your business on time and on budget. With a broad range of technical skills, with well-defined delivery practices and solid product knowledge I can help you improve your business with quality, efficiency and transparency. Over the past 6 years I've delivered BPM and SOA solutions using the IBM BPM Lombardi platform (v6,7,7.5,8) and the IBM WebSphere Process Server and ESB solutions to the following financial service providers AMP, CBA and CGU. I have built a BPM competency centre for CGU that is now core to their business and I have a deep and broad understanding of the BPM product and customer landscape. I have implemented Master Data Management, Skills Based Routing and Business Event Correlation and processing solutions. I have a deep and broad knowledge of Tier 1 Database and SQL platforms having used and implemented Oracle, DB2 and MS SQL solutions. I also have a broad coverage of Tier 2 MySQL, NoSQL - Cassandra and DynamoDB and Mongo DB technologies. Prior to this I have delivered JBoss ESB solutions to integrate 180 ERP dealers to a WebSphere Commerce Platform for contract prices management, product ordering and supply inventory updates. This required multiple parties, vendors and technologies all managed as an SOA solution on JBoss architectures with WSDL, SOAP, REST and workflow jPDL to define governance and human task interaction and control. With a broad understanding of SOA, Solution Architecture, Methodology and UML design patterns I have created solution architectures that embody the business requirements traced through to benefits and their components, drilled down to realisation and responsibility matrices. All business or technical functions need to be related to a business driver or they can’t be prioritised and scheduled in the roadmap. I believe that the data model or domain model is critical to the success of any project as it forms the backbone of the solution. Once the data model is well defined using technologies like UML, XSD or annotated java objects, you have the ability to then dynamically create interfaces, screens and transformations leading to a well-structured and easy to maintain solution. When I build a data model I always try to find the unique generic view however long experience reminds me that sometimes you have to work with different structures addressing the same domain entity and link them together via foreign keys and/or provide transformation abilities. The ESB has provided a terrific way to get dissimilar systems to work together in harmony. I have created patterns to allow data to reference other entities without cyclic routing issues, which often manifest in schema realisation in WSDL, XSD, JAVA or other Object Relation Models for persistence or transport. From a build perspective I find Maven and CI technologies reduce the complexity of a solution and improve the visibility, accuracy and responsiveness of a delivery pipeline allowing for more to be done with less with greater quality. It is with excitement that I offer you my skills and experiences so we can create something extraordinary together. Yours Cheerfully, David Edson.
