Infrastructure Engineer with SCCM and Lync design experience

United Kingdom - Last active: 05/20/2014

I would really like to find an IT role that I can undertake while working from home due to my circumstances changing recently. My last position was a fixed term contract working for Barings Asset Management responsible for the implementation of Lync 2013 Enterprise Unified communications and SCCM 2012 R2. I have been solely responsible for the planning, testing, designing and implementation of both deployments, which were deployed for approximately 1000 users globally across 12 locations. These projects were managed simultaneously, whilst providing 3rd line Application and Server support as part of the Windows server team supporting 350 - 400 servers. My day to day duties included server support for Windows 03/08/12 servers these consist of different role and feature setups including IIS, Hyper-V, FTP, File and Print servers. System monitoring is performed using HP’s Insight Manager, Microsoft’s System Centre Operations Manager (SCOM) and Solarwinds. Work logged and progress tracked using LANDesk's ITIL compliant helpdesk software. I performed hardware callouts with HP and provided server hardware specifications for any specialised IT project within Barings. Other elements of my role included creating all planning, support and install documentation throughout the project often providing technical presentations and training sessions throughout. Installation of new servers and additional hardware as required as well as providing escalated support to the global helpdesk and desktop engineering teams. My previous exposure to Lync 2010 at Bloomberg LP helped secure my contract with Barings, however my role at Barings is far more in-depth and involved supporting and upgrading Barings from Microsoft’s Office Communication Server 2007 R2 to Lync 2010 Unified Communications. For my assignment, I was part of a special technical team who completed a full migration in 2012. Quality of service and Call Admission Control were installed to help assist with peer to peer A/V and conferencing A/V quality, which I am now responsible for managing. As a result, I have since deployed Lync 2013 Enterprise within Barings and have region based user pools for further call experience improvement. Other additional features I have installed include a P-Chat Server and Office web application server, a Sip trunk connection to a CISCO VCSC for room based conferencing and connection to BES5.5 and BES10 server for Blackberry mobile Lync communication. The next stage of the Lync implementation was Enterprise Voice integration with a Cisco 3300 for telephony which I completed in July 2014. Other parts of the project include working with the Desktop team to deploy the Lync 2013 client globally - For this project packaging, testing and a trail was completed before the rollout was completed globally by the end of June 2014. Another responsibility of my role at Barings is the planning, design and installation of the SCCM 2007 R2 as part of the Windows 7, Office 2010 upgrade project. This includes the implementation of 4 primary site and 1 secondary site server and 10 distribution points. I also support various teams to configure the client setting, Boundaries, PXE, OSD, WSUS and physical and app-v packages. Since that project was completed the migration to SCCM 2012 R2 has been completed. The company as now fully migrated to SCCM 2012 R2 still running Windows 7 and Office 2010. In 2011, I successfully completed a 6 month contract for Jupiter Asset Management implementing SCCM 2007 R3 and Windows 7 for 600 users. The project involved upgrading to Windows 7 and Office 2010. In my previous role at Bloomberg LP; I supported 18,000 users globally providing 3rd line application support for the EMEA region and London helpdesk teams. My role included SCCM administration, software licensing, hardware purchasing and project work. I was accountable for configuring SCCM with over 440 Packages, 7 Operating system builds and all required Microsoft Updates. My main project at Bloomberg was the global planning, testing and implementation of windows 7 with office 2010 managing each regions project workload with SharePoint site detailing all activity and issues, but I was also part of the Lync 2010 Enterprise voice project London for 200 users, which included packaging the Lync 2010 client, roll out to selected users and the installation of Polycom handsets and user administration. I also managed PC upgrades for over 1000 users within the first year. The final project I worked on for Bloomberg was the implementation of Microsoft’s Hyper-V Server, with Microsoft’s RemoteFX and Microsoft Lync 2010 for 600 users in the New Park House office within the Cisco headquarters. I am a highly motivated individual and find it easy to learn and develop new technical skills. I work well with people at all levels and communicate well in terms of written skills, face to face, over the telephone and via electronic methods.

    Systems Engineering and Software Development

    United States - Last active: 10/24/2014 - Tests: 1

The previous two decades of developing software allowed a few talented people to sit down and write code on the fly developing the software and tools needed. That is not possible today but in the most extreme cases of a very small program or a very talented, very costly individual. Companies that continue to operate as they have over the last two decades will; over run projects, deliver reduced capabilities, miss deadlines, and cost 130-185% more than originally estimated. This happens because only 50% of the specifications and requirements were detailed at the beginning of the project, no risk analysis was performed, and UX/UI for the individuals using the software were not considered. This is OUR skill set. We employee incredible System Engineers that know how to write and develop software. We scope the project from the planning phase to development to end of life. The more time spent NOW saves incredible amount of money and time in the FUTURE. We want to save you and your company tens of thousands to millions of dollars by having our team lead and/or develop your software. Do Not be short-sighted in your software development. Work with us to plan and develop the software that drives your company.

    Web Tech Specialist

    United States - Last active: 10/17/2014 - Tests: 2

If you need help with a web project, and want to work with someone who is calm, professional, intelligent, helpful, and patient, you may just have found the person to help. Hi, my name is Chris. I am a web specialist and programmer living in Arizona. I have spent my entire life around computers and the internet, and have spent a large majority of my working life helping small businesses succeed by utilizing current web technologies and smart financial planning. My mother works for Intel and my father worked for IBM while I was growing up, so computers were a part of my every day life. I started teaching myself html and various other web technologies at the age of 12 and I have gained a wide gambit of skills and knowledge through various classes and self taught courses. I worked as an independent web developer for about 3 years while in college. Since the beginning of 2011, I have been working for a very large web provider and registrar, where I currently supervise a team of 18 tech support specialists. However, I am starting to take more side projects again as a hobby and a means for a small supplemental income. My specialty is troubleshooting website issues, but I can also build projects from scratch. I have about 7 years experience as a small business consultant, so I am very good at visualizing a project based on a description, and then finding the best route to get there. So If you need help with a web project, and want to work with someone who is calm, professional, intelligent, helpful, and patient, let's talk. I have experience in all the following web technologies: *Html *CSS *Javascript *PHP *AJAX *MySQL *WordPress *cPanel *Plesk *DNS I have also used many other Content Management Systems on various occassions, such as OpenCart, ZenCart, Joomla, Drupal, PHPBB, and Magento, but I would not really say I have a good amount of experience with them.
