I am a Singaporean who enjoys traveling and experiencing the cultures of different countries, which explains why I am currently working and living in South Korea.
As someone who started working right after graduating from high school, I bring along with me a set of skills and experience I believe are necessary for this job. I am able to write on and translate perfectly a wide variety of topics, from lifestyle articles to professional documents.
Hailing from Singapore, a country that adopted the United Kingdom’s education system, we are recognised by most of the world to be native speakers of English. Also, as a multi-racial society, we have to learn our own mother tongue, which means that I am a native speaker of Chinese (Mandarin) as well. Having spent over 2 years living, studying and working in Seoul, my Korean is fluent enough for professional business meetings.
I had worked in a law firm as a Paralegal back in Singapore, which would not have been possible should my English skills be abysmal. Also, I had worked as a languages private tutor, for English and Mandarin, for 6 years and my students have consistently produced good results. While studying in South Korea, I was working as a freelance translator for Mainland Chinese students, translating Chinese documents and application forms into English and Korean for school and work applications. I have also written, translated, edited and proofread articles relating to Kpop, Kdrama and Korean celebrities for other journalists and entertainment news websites.
With my current company, a Singaporean FDI to South Korea, a part of my job entails translating all important documents from Korean to English.
