I offer to you 30+ years of computer technical education and experience focused on helping you resolve problems that appear to be only resolved with the help of a technical wizard.
It's important to understand (if you are not technical) that there are some problems out there that require years of training and hands on experience if you seek the best resolution within your budget. The first initial consulting "gig" is to assess your issue and determine where even to start. This is critical because you don't want to waste time and money going down the wrong path.
Perhaps there is a service out there that you don't know of that will do the task you want done. Or an app that will do that. Or perhaps there is a problem with your business model and what you want to do is not going to work. An experienced consultant will point out what's out there that may be just what you are looking for.
STRUCTURED PROBLEM RESOLUTION - VERY IMPORTANT!
The best way to begin any project that requires technical assistance is to first hire a professional with a long history in the industry and never stops learning. A consultant should be a good communicator with a standard approach to every presented problem. A consultant should also be open to any solution and not particular about specifics (OS, programming language, office software brand, etc.).
It begins with investigating the problem. This is basically about getting an understanding from the client exactly what needs to be accomplished to get satisfactory results within budget.
After the consultant understands the problem, next is where we analyze the problem and propose various solutions. Generally a complicated problem is going to have more than one solution. Each will have a different cost and very specific expertise required to resolve it. The client reviews the solutions and then with the expertise of the consultant, agrees to the best solution.
After the best solution is selected, the consultant or another skilled worker begins implementing the solution. It may involve creating a website, writing a program, creating a data entry form or using software to transform data according to requirements. After the work is completed, the client then reviews the results. This is the feedback phase where the client reviews the completed work and reports back any issues or changes needed. This goes back and forth until solutions requirements are met.

One important part of offering computer technical services is the workstation. When you contract for technical services, expect that the workstation is adequate for the job. My system consists of two active computers connected on a local network and to the Internet via Time Warner Road Runner (residential broadband). Please view my photo for workstation details.
I maintain my workstation myself. I am self-sufficient with most PC hardware or software troubleshooting. Take care when selecting workers for your projects that they have sufficiently fast and well-maintained systems with stable ISP services. Do they back up their work or have more than one PC in case one fails? Are they able to install advanced office applications or upgrade when needed when updated software is needed?
MY HOME OFFICE
When you select contract workers you are also renting the use someone's workstation. These workstations require funding to purchase, maintain and upgrade when needed. There are commercial centers like FedEx Kinkos that will give you access to workstations but they charge for it. This home office is just like that but is a residential home (one bedroom apartment). It requires paying rent, utilities and other bills to keep it running. If you obtain services that use this home office you pay just as you would before leaving Kinkos. Like anything else of value you find and use online, this is resource for you to access and use for fair compensation. If there is no payment, my workstation closes and will not be available to you when you need it most.
I see a number of contract projects go by not completed on time when I have many spare hours not being used. This tells me where a consultant is needed before implementing any problem solution. Select me and I will be of service to you. For a basic consultation charge, $200 minimum, I will examine your project. If I can do it, I'll do it. If not, I will point you in the right direction. That's what a consultant does.
