I am a recent graduate of Brigham Young University with a degree in German Linguistics. I plan to utilize my German skills in my future career, possibly as a translator.
I have experience translating, as I worked as an intern through Lingotek with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints translating a minimum seven-chapter manual from English into German. Additionally, I was often contacted by the professorship and friends to do translations for them.
I spent two years on a service mission for my Church in Germany, where I acquired the bulk of my German skills, living among the people of East Germany. By the end of my stay there, I had near-native proficiency.
At BYU, I took the ACTFL OPI and WPT proficiency exams, earning advanced-mid (level 8 out of 10 levels, with the 10th essentially being native in proficiency) level certification.
I am highly motivated, and have experience in these three main fields: Geology (it was almost my minor), music (I compose music as a hobby), and religion (this is what I spent two years in Germany talking about). This does not preclude me from being able to translate documents of other fields, though, as I feel I am quite versatile.
If you hire me, I promise quality work.
