Transcriptionist / Customer Service
My name is Matthew Swindells, and I primarily do Transcription work here on Odesk. I type at 85 words per minute, and am skilled with computers and technology in general. I can generally complete one audio hour of transcription in 4 hours, including time for editing and proofreading. I do all the work myself, which means I do not use voice recognition software to rush through it as some (who may charge much less) do. I personally listen to the audio recordings and type it out myself. This obviously results in a much higher quality transcript.
I can also work as an ESL teacher. I have been teaching different subjects for more than 5 years now, although i have done this on a volunteer basis (which I continue to do to this day). I speak English as my first language and have also learned Spanish as my second language. I am in the process of learning two more languages, so i am well acquainted with the challenges of learning a new language as well as various teaching methods.
Also, I have several years experience in the hospitality industry and as such I am good at customer service. I am good at explaining services if necessary to help customers understand a product or service, as well as answering questions. I am also a very patient person who can keep his composure under pressure and this helps me to deal with complaints or negative comments from customers, even if they might be upset or otherwise in an emotional state.
