Years in Industry: 6
Mac Tilt has been providing energy efficiency consulting services for commercial and government clients since 2009. His specialties include energy auditing, retro-commissioning (RCx), commissioning (Cx), spreadsheet tool development, and measurement and verification (M&V) for energy performance contracting. Key project experience includes:
Ritz-Carlton - Hospitality Energy Assessments (2015)
Mac provided energy assessments for Ritz-Carlton hotels across the country. These assessments evaluated design sequences and BAS controls, equipment efficiency, and the staff's focus on energy efficiency. These assessments resulted in a report outlining low to no-cost recommendations for improved energy efficiency and provided a frame work for future infrastructure improvements.
Salt River Project (SRP) - Recommissioning (2010-2014)
Mac provided analysis of chiller sequencing, condenser/chilled water reset strategies, terminal heating lockout, airside/waterside economizer optimization, discharge air temperature reset, unoccupied airflow adjustment, and condenser water flow reduction. After careful analysis of each measure, Mac generated a Diagnostic and Calculation report to detail the baseline conditions and improvements proposed. The projects that have been completed to date include a 218,000 SF hotel and two community college campuses (144,000 SF and 341,000 SF). The average savings for these projects was 7% of total electrical use with a combined payback for recommended measures of two years or less.
Xcel Service Center, Carlsbad, NM - Cx (2014)
Mac provided LEED Enhanced Commissioning Services for the new 40,000 square foot Xcel Energy Service Center in Carlsbad, NM. These services included a full design and submittal review, development and implementation of a commissioning plan and creation and implementation of start-up and functional testing procedures.
Platte River Power Authority (PRPA) - Energy Consulting Services (2013-2014)
Mac conducted energy assessments that evaluated electrical, natural gas, water, waste and transportation components of commercial and industrial facilities. His duties included analyzing customer utility data to identify any abnormalities that may indicate energy-saving opportunities, conducting telephone surveys with facility managers on energy-using equipment present in the facility, making on-site visits to commercial and industrial facilities to identify all major energy-using equipment, recommending capital and low-cost upgrades that result in more efficient energy usage, calculating economic estimations and cost effectiveness of implementation of these energy conservation opportunities and generating a report for the customer that outlines recommended energy conservation opportunities, strategic opportunities and solid waste and transportation efficiency improvements.
Xcel Energy - Commercial Building Audit Program (2009-2014)
Mac performed over 75 commercial building audits through Xcel Energy’s Commercial Building Audit Program. For each audit, he provided the customer with a profile of the building energy usage, applicable energy conservation opportunities and guidance on available rebates in order to improve building energy efficiency.
Colorado Energy Office (CEO) - Energy Performance Contracting Program (2011-2014)
Mac provided technical energy consulting services for agencies engaging in energy performance contracting. These services included reviewing technical energy audits, contract documents and M&V reports, as well as meeting with agency and contractor representatives across the state. The program has supported $294 million worth of construction over 146 projects.
