Python / Perl / Ruby on Rails Development
Last active: 09/28/2014
I have five years experience coding in Python, Perl, Matlab, and MySQL, and two years working with Ruby on Rails from the roles of a Data Scientist and general everyday hacker. A data scientist is someone who is skilled at turning large, messy data sets (GB to TB+ in size) into useful insights using statistics, machine learning, and expert visual presentations. As part of their job, data scientists may scrape content from the Internet and create websites for clients.
I graduated from Harvard in 2013 with a degree in Biomedical Engineering, and have been working as a data scientist ever since. Currently I am employed at the National Institutes of Health as a statistician and computational biologist at the Human Genome Institute. I have plenty of experience in statistics, genetics, non-linear systems, machine learning, computer vision, scalable programming, and medical device development if the project requires it.
From lots of hands-on experience with Linux and Windows systems, including designing and fixing problems with high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure, I should be able to help you with your program and system optimization concerns as well.
