    Australia - Last active: 04/04/2014 - Tests: 2 - Portfolio: 4

Through Nippon Communications, I offer bilingual communications and creative support for businesses operating in Japanese and English-speaking transcultural markets. From small businesses that require immediately effective communications solutions to businesses and communications agencies working with large Japanese corporations and industry partners, our services flexibly caters to a range of Australian and English-speaking businesses working in or with Japan. Clients I have worked with include: Toyota Motor Corporation, Dentsu, Denso, Bertelsmann, Academy of Information Technology, University of New South Wales, Rotor Studios, Oddfellows Advertising, Spinnaker Films BACKGROUND Since the age of two, I have lived in four different countries: Japan, The United States, Singapore, and currently hold a permanent residency in Australia (further info in my Linked In profile below). Due to this particular upbringing, I am native in both languages and cultures. When most linguistic professionals are native in one language and strong yet not native in another, this is a unique advantage for clients who require a specialist who is capable of identifying, translating and interpreting the subtlest of nuances in both languages. At Nippon Communications, I combine my bilingual and bicultural expertise with my background as an advertising, marketing and communications specialist (honed at Oddfellows Dentsu). This ensures that every work I produce, or assist in are done so with the end communications objectives in mind. For example, when your translated documents need to make an emotional impact on your clients, speak the language of your particular target audience, or simply needs to resolve a business problem caused by cultural barriers, I apply a multi-tiered approach that best leads to a long-term solution. WHY FREELANCE My work through Nippon Communications is crucial in flexibly supporting an organic fashion social enterprise I co-founded with a dear friend. The social enterprise also aims to be a bridge between Japan, Australia, and various cultures around the world. Please refer to my LinkedIn for more details about my work and/or educational history. German/English Translator

    United States - Last active: 05/07/2013 - Tests: 18 - Portfolio: 1

I am a recent graduate of Brigham Young University with a degree in German Linguistics. I plan to utilize my German skills in my future career, possibly as a translator. I have experience translating, as I worked as an intern through Lingotek with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints translating a minimum seven-chapter manual from English into German. Additionally, I was often contacted by the professorship and friends to do translations for them. I spent two years on a service mission for my Church in Germany, where I acquired the bulk of my German skills, living among the people of East Germany. By the end of my stay there, I had near-native proficiency. At BYU, I took the ACTFL OPI and WPT proficiency exams, earning advanced-mid (level 8 out of 10 levels, with the 10th essentially being native in proficiency) level certification. I am highly motivated, and have experience in these three main fields: Geology (it was almost my minor), music (I compose music as a hobby), and religion (this is what I spent two years in Germany talking about). This does not preclude me from being able to translate documents of other fields, though, as I feel I am quite versatile. If you hire me, I promise quality work.
