Experienced editor, writer, photographer and public affairs professional. In more than 30 years in journalism, publications and online media, I have taken magazines, newsletters and newspapers from concept through production, redesign and establishment of online editions.
I have led teams of writers, artists and subject-matter experts in the development of complex print and online information graphics.
I can accomplish the mission using a full suite of tools, including Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Dreamweaver; Microsoft Office, including Publisher and PowerPoint; and WordPress. I have maintained websites using the DotNetNuke and Knowledge Dispatch content management systems.
As a writer, I take pride in producing clean, accurate copy focused on the audience.
Military, education, and environmental management topics fit well with my experience. Health care and nursing articles will be co-written by my spouse, who holds a bachelor of science in nursing from George Mason University.
I am well-versed in Associated Press and Chicago styles. Depending on the assignment, I can also use APA and GPO.
Assignments in South Texas or involving travel can easily include photos.
Note: I am currently employed by a Department of Defense agency, so I need to clear certain assignments.
