Words and phrases have rhythm and flow. They have the ability to soothe, hypnotize, agitate, or energize. They are a weapon to be used with care and precision, requiring mastery of both pace and tone.
Because of my experiences in the film industry, both with screenwriting and physical production, as well as having nearly 8 years of experience in the field of copywriting, I have become accustomed to free flowing creative interaction, and concise and efficient communication. I have also come to appreciate the necessity for candor, criticism, and honesty when deadlines and budgets simply cannot be compromised.
Because businesses and sales are moving more and more away from handshaking and into satellite negotiations, companies, perhaps more than ever, need writers who can make connections, evoke emotion, and incite action through the power of the written word.
People see too much "advertising," and will not give you long to excite them, which is why good copywriters are direct, persuasive and efficient. The copywriter is the gateway to your potential customers. But today's copywriter must be more than that. They must be part psychologist, part public relations. They have to be able to translate complex thoughts and business jargon into relatable text any layman can grasp. They need to be teachers, and sellers, and friends to your client base.
These necessary elements that a copywriter must possess are my strengths. I spent nearly 15 years in the film industry, which taught me politics and persuasion. I'm a trained life coach, which means I know how to read and inspire people.
I have contracted and currently contract for companies like Warner Bros., Knot Standard, Cheap Caribbean, American Express, IHG, Travel + Leisure, MapQuest, Ariba and SAP, which means I'm very experienced in high-level marketing and ad copy. I was a full time screenwriter for more than ten years, which means I know how to produce dynamic elements with pace, rhythm and punch.
I have written for film, television commercials/one hour dramas, and sitcoms. I have penned one sheets, taglines, synopses, pitches, professional bios, web content, proposals, press releases, SEO laden content, Meta Descriptions and Title Tags, marketing letters, business proposals, radio spots, game reviews, film reviews, :30 second television ads, and feature articles. I have been published many times online and in print and recently did some freelance work for Groupon.
