Mechanical Engineer / SolidWorks Designer

Hi, my name is Brian. I have been working professionally as a Mechanical engineer since 2007. I worked for an engineering consulting company for five years prior to going out on my own in 2012. My position as a design engineer in that small consulting company (4 Employees) gave me experience with clients in a wide variety of industries. As part of that company I designed and/or analyzed the following products; dump truck beds, refrigerator fans, electronics enclosures, spinal surgery tools, cookware, various intricate injection molded plastic parts, exhaust systems for large turbine engines, large kinetic energy storage devices and much more. I also have personal experience working in machine shops using lathes, milling machines, TIG welding and MIG welding. This job gave me a good mix of industrial design, mechanical design, and analysis skills that we can use to develop your products.
I have been working as a freelance engineer for the past 3 years. I have designed entire race cars (which I then built and tested), electronic skateboard components (ridemarbel.com), 360 degree spherical cameras, bath toys, dog toys, portable water pumps, automated machinery for production of fuel filters, paper perforating machines and many other devices.
I enjoy working with clients and other engineers to take products from the initial concept to a working prototype and on to production. I can create complex 3d models and working assemblies. I can make dimensioned 2d production drawings using these models and assemblies. I can assist in the transition from design to production by working with machine shops and production facilities. This may involve onsite visits, phone calls or online video meetings. I can also create lifelike renders or videos which may be used for marketing, describing a concept or assembly instruction. As for analysis, I can perform stress, thermal and modal analysis using SolidWorks Simulation.
