* Foundation Architectures
Designed and supported architectures, supporting the following applications among others. Oracle, Informix, Siebel, WebSphere, DB2, MS SQL, LDAP, Web Hosting, Email, and DNS among others. Served as a senior systems administrator, supporting Debian, Red Hat, Solaris, and Microsoft Windows Server. He maintained proper system operations through system audits, patch management. Worked with application owners to ensure proper system configuration. Optimized Solaris system performance through Solaris Resource Management. Integrated Unix authentication and authorization providing common sign-on across Unix, Application, and Windows environments. Deployed Windows Server environments supporting Active Directory, Group Policy, Terminal Services, and MS SQL.
* Wired and Wireless Network and Remote Access Architectures
Designed and implemented large TCPIP networks. He has architected standard solutions for dynamically routed networks, Internet fail-over and load-balancing. Experience supporting global MPLS and Cisco DMVPN networks. Designed remote access solutions based on Cisco, SonicWall, and OpenVPN. Including Infrastructure based LAN to LAN VPN's, and fault tolerant multi-point VPN solutions with dynamic routing. Designed and implemented indoor and outdoor wireless networks based on Ruckus, Cisco, and Ubiquiti equipment. Performed RF site surveys and analysis. Deployed routing protocols BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF in multiple environements.
* Enterprise Monitoring and Data Security
He has designed and implemented a Proactive Monitoring solution tying together a number of open source software packages into a unified tool. Packages include Nagios/Icinga, Cacti, Cfengine, Munin, and others. His work with this solution has been proven to lower costs by increasing productivity, and reducing unplanned downtime. Deployed Intrusion Detection and prevention systems, both host and network based integrated with network firewalls for dynamic threat remediation. He has implemented global web proxy services utilizing WCCPv2 and Websense .
* High Availability Solutions
Designed and implemented high availability environments using virtual, clustered, and replicated solutions. Implementations including Solaris, Veritas, Oracle, and Linux cluster solutions to Oracle, Oracle Applications, Siebel, Mysql and PostgreSQL replication, and Linux Virtualization.
* Storage Architectures and Disaster Recovery
Designed and implemented storage and backup solutions including SAN and direct attached technologies, tape libraries, virtual tape libraries and off-site replication. Implemented using EMC and vendor storage, Fiber Channel, iSCSI, and direct attached, and both software and hardware RAID solutions. Software RAID including Veritas Volume Manager, Solaris Volume Manager, Linux Logical Volume Manager, Solaris ZFS, and Linux mdadm. Storage formatted as Linux ext3/4, ZFS, VxFS, and direct-access(raw). High availability provided though multi-path/multi-chassis storage access and remote data replication with Veritas Volume Replicator and Linux DRBD. Disaster recovery software includes Symantec NetBackup, EMC Networker, and Bacula with storage provided by EMC, StorageTek, and disk storage.
Designed and implemented virtual environments using Solaris and Linux Containers, Linux KVM, and VMWare. Virtual servers deployed to support Linux, Solaris, and Windows operating systems running Oracle, MySQL, monitoring, Voice over IP PBX, file server, application server, and web environments.
* Technical troubleshooting – root cause analysis
He has a diverse skill set that enables a broad perspective of computing environments. This gives him a systemic viewpoint that goes from the application through host configuration to the many paths that data travels through the network and the interaction of the multitude of components that make up modern computing environments. This ability allows him to direct various resources across multiple disciplines to determine root cause and resolution.
Implemented voice solutions based on Astrerisk, Trixbox, and FreeSWITCH VoIP PBX. Utilizing VoIP hardware from Snom, Cisco, and Grandstream. Implemented integrated FAX to email solutions utilizing Hylafax fax server and Digium telephony hardware.
