I have 8+ years of experience in software engineering, covering Configuration Management (CM), Build / Release Management, Process Automation and Script Development for which I have also been rewarded. Among major and recent accomplishments was conceptualization and implementation of an “END TO END” automation of Product Release process using "Continuous Integration" allowing “24 X 7 X 365” execution of build and test libraries at Ness Technologies. Christopher Weldon

Lead Software/Database Engineer and Senior Systems Administrator

    United States - Last active: 05/21/2012 - Tests: 6 - Portfolio: 7

I have been developing software collectively for just over 10 years, with the bulk of my experience in the web domain. I have developed numerous public and private sector web applications serving a variety of purposes ranging from eCommerce and content management customizations to problem tracking systems and directory administration tools. I follow agile software development methodologies and have strong communications principles that ensure my customers are receiving timely updates and able to see rapid results on software projects. What sets me apart from other software engineers is I strive to utilize best practices for software development. These best practices include test-driven development, continuous integration, adhering to standards, not re-inventing the wheel, and documenting everything. While this results in spending a little more up-front time developing the software, I believe it is well worth it in order to leave the project in excellent condition so that it can easily be extended and maintained for years to come. My language strengths are PHP, C#, and Java with experience in the Zend and Castle MVC frameworks, PHPUnit, NUnit, and JUnit testing frameworks, and the Dojo JavaScript library. In addition to being an extremely skilled software engineer, I have honed my experience with systems administration as well. I am extremely skilled in administering both Windows and Linux servers, as I have been administering servers and operating systems for a combined 15+ years. I have in-depth experience with all Windows flavors, especially Windows Server 2000-2008, as well as Linux (Gentoo, RedHat, Debian, Ubuntu, SuSE, and CentOS), FreeBSD, Solaris, and VMware ESX 3.5-4.0. For all of these servers, I have experience setting up and designing OpenLDAP or Active Directory installs, file sharing services through Samba, AppleTalk, CIFS, NFS, and FTP(S), e-mail using Postfix and Sendmail, web services through Apache and IIS, and numerous database servers including Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. Finally, I strive to educate others with the information and experiences I have learned. I do this through community contribution at user groups, tech fests, conferences, and as a member of any team I'm a part of. Stephen D.

    Technology Specialist

    United States - Last active: 12/15/2014 - Tests: 8 - Portfolio: 2

Over the last decade or so, I have dedicated my life to the advancement of technology in all its forms. I have created numerous websites, databases, programs and specialize in audio/video integration and system design as well as room automation and signal processing. If I had to say I had any one real skill, it would have to be that I am profoundly good at building a better mousetrap. I must admit that there are times when I have difficulty creating things from scratch, but with a little inspiration I can take a project to a whole new level of design and implementation. I have experience in C/C++, MySQL, PHP, JavaScript, HTML/DHTML/XHTML and am moderately proficient with Lua, Ruby, Perl and VisualBasic, but not enough to brag about. I can interpret most programming languages easily enough.

On Target Senior Developer, Specializing in Internet Plumbing

For those of us who used to call ourselves "Systems Programmers", the opportunities of combining systems are only getting more and more exciting. ESB, Web Hooks, EDI, ETL, are all technologies that are now letting small teams do what entire corporations once did. Personally I am excited to be a programmer at this time in computer science history. I actually love doing what some see as an invisible art. I have done various DB conversions on a file basis, as well as cross-platform replication and EDI. More recently I have built an agent to keep amazon, overstock.com and 11 other online e-portals in sync with multiple .com e-commerce SaaS platforms, including inventory management. Additionally built a shipping metering system that includes all 4 big shippers, and maps product types and restrictions to the various restrictions of the shippers. Batteries, frozen food, oxygen generators, live animals and medical samples can be in the same cart, shipped domestically or internationally and a combined quote from (potentially, based on policy) multiple shippers can be returned within a couple seconds. I love this kind of stuff. Currently I have a 3 hr/month support commitment for a weather network that gets forecasts/readings from NOAA and several other sources, which consists of occasional moments of unannounced data format changes and long periods of nothing. 4 outages in 3 years, with a total downtime of 23hrs. Java, AJAX, Velocity, MuleESB. 30 year professional career with the fortune of working with many excellent teams. Extensive work in Scandinavia and Japan. Willing to travel 25% including international to support team and client activities.
