College Grad with Proven Administration, Accounting & Operations Skill
Graduated from Kent State University where I obtained a BA in Justice Studies with a Minor in Sociology. While pursuing my Justice Studies Degree, I also took advantage of opportunities to further my knowledge in accounting principals and garner further training in tax preparation.
While enrolled full-time at KSU, I also spent 24 hours a day being a mother of two children. Being a single mother in college, made it necessary that I also work to provide financial security for my family. Although this was not always easy, and caused a few late night homework sessions, it allowed me to learn valuable skills that have proven effective in my employability. The knowledge I gained at KSU is invaluable; but the skills I aquired whilst balancing the work-school-home lifestyle have given me an edge because these skills cannot be taught in a classroom. This personal experience forced me to gain a skill-set that is highly desirable; I'm extremely hard-working, with an acute attention to detail; I am proud and I truly enjoy the satisfaction I feel when I complete a project; my time management skills are exceptional with an organizational approach that ensures I focus on specific task elements on a logical manner; and most importantly I learned that the characteristic of honesty is the most important quality to possess because it's ok to fall down, it's ok to ask for help, and it's ok to be wrong...people forgive those, but they don't forgive a lie and they sure don't forget one.
I currently work in the transportation industry; specifically I am an integral member of the operations team of a trucking company. I work in the Safety & Compliance Department where I am the Safety Compliance & Maintenance Administration. I'm directly responsible for ensuring that all employed drivers and equipment (tractors, trailers, etc) are fully qualified and in compliance with all federal, state and local regulations at all times. This job requires extensive administration tasks; management, accounting, maintenance operations, legal knowledge, filing, human resources, data entry, auditing, payroll, fuel taxes, government regulations, reporting, vendor relations, phone skills, and more. This position exposes me to many valuable skills that apply to many sectors.
Outside of my current position, I have extensive training in all Microsoft programs with proven Excel expertise. I also have experience with customer service, cash handling, and Quickbooks.
