My name is Casey Kay and I am an independent export trade agent and consultant from America, currently living in China. I have lived and worked in multiple cities throughout China’s Eastern seaboard for the past four years, gaining invaluable experience and skills in a wide range of industries. I am currently based out of the Shandong Province, in the city of Zibo. Zibo is the largest manufacturing city in the entire province. The main production industries are, but are not limited to; ceramic tile and ceramic goods, building, automotive and flat glass, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment/supplies, chemical producers of all fields, and machinery part manufacturers. As an independent agent, I represent American companies that are interested in purchasing high quality, competitively priced products from China.
My responsibilities and value-added services include; efficient and effective communication between supplier/manufacturer and customer/company, price, quantity and terms of delivery negotiation assistance/translation, overseeing and inspecting products during all steps of production to ensure quality standards are reached, guaranteeing on-time shipment and delivery of goods, etc. I am very passionate about what I do and take pride in the successful and professional matter in which I complete each project to my customer’s satisfaction.
My strong business and relationship network including; manufacturers, traders, government officials and suppliers gives me an intangible competitive advantage in comparison to other trade agents. As you may know, relationships and networks in China, known as “GuanXi”, are the most important underlying factor in all business negotiations and product pricing. I am very interested in hearing what products you are requesting to import and I look forward to the possible opportunity of providing you with the most reliable, timely and competitive export/import service. In 2012, a Chinese businessman and I started an English Language Training Center in Nanjing. As the Vice-Principal and Director of External affairs, I played a large role in developing the company from the ground up. As well as finding, hiring and managing 5 American foreign teachers, I also taught students at Nanjing University as a professor of Business Communications. I have a strong passion for doing business in China, and believe that my knowledge of the Chinese language, business culture and sales strategies would provide an asset for your company.
During my undergraduate studies at Trinity University, I was a scholarship member of the men’s soccer team and received my Bachelor’s of Science in International Business and Mandarin Chinese. As an undergraduate, I spent two summers in Shanghai, working for two vastly diverse companies. In the summer of 2009, I worked for Hella Trading Shanghai Co. Ltd; a subsidiary of the German based International Corporation, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co. During this internship, I was assigned to both the Product Management department and Human Resources department. My duties included; creating an innovative and functionally efficient product database, translating all human resource documents from Mandarin Chinese to English and collaborating with fellow coworkers to create marketing presentations in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
The following year, I was given the opportunity to work as the interim marketing director for The China Wine Museum Co. Ltd; a privately owned wine import and distribution company, serving all of Mainland China. During my three month contract, I created a new website for the company, compiled S.W.O.T and other market analysis reports/presentations, designed multiple advertisement campaigns, translated documents and attended wine conferences as an American associate to the company.
My experiences with multiple different styles and sizes of companies have enabled me to comprehensively analyze the positive and negative aspects of unique operations management, internal structure and organizational tactics. I am very passionate about international marketing and market research and believe that my understanding of the business culture of China will enable me to provide a valuable set of skills and assets to any sector of a company.
I am confident in my ability to translate from Chinese to English and also from English to Chinese with the clearest and correct use of tone, grammar and function, as I have had years of experience doing this type of work for all sorts of projects including business contracts, Human Resource documentation and American legal documents.
Thank you very much for your consideration and I look forward to being in contact with you in the future.
