Translator (Swedish from English and Spanish), Market researcher
Last active: 1 day ago
Professional translator, transcriptionist and market researcher. Native from Sweden but bilingual from birth in Swedish and English and fluent in Spanish.
I have always loved writing, since I was a child, although mostly for my own personal pleasure. Languages is a later interest, although I have spoken English as well as Swedish my whole life it was not until I learned Spanish as an adult that I realised that a language is more than just communicating. A new language is a new way of interpreting what we see around us, cliché but true. learning a new language also taught me a lot about my own language, what makes it special and its advantages and disadvantages. Working with translations, which is now my main occupation allows me to combine my love of writing with my interest in languages.
Working as a freelancer has its advantages. It is great to have the freedom to set my own schedule and work from anywhere I want. Living in Mexico City, being able to work from home and not having to deal with the traffic is a huge advantage. I also enjoy working with the variation of topics and styles and decline if it is something I really don't want to do.
I live in Mexico where I work with translations (Swedish-English, English-Swedish and Spanish to English/Swedish), qualitative market investigation (focus groups, analysis etc.) and transcriptions on a range of topics from education to cars, foods and drinks to cleaning liquids to perfumes.
Swedish: Swedish is my main native language as it was in Sweden I grew up and where I have my education. I can translate and/or transcribe general content on any topic, as well as literary material, social science academic material and more technical material in areas related to global studies and international relations.
English: With an English mother and having done my master in English, including writing a master thesis, it is a language I dominate well and that I am used to working with. Most of the local work I do in Mexico is translations from Spanish to English and analysis in English for international business.
Spanish: I am fluent in Spanish and it is a language I use on a daily basis, I do transcriptions in Spanish and use it as a source language when translating.
I have a master degree in global studies (in English) and bachelor in International relations, both from Gothenburg University in Sweden. The master program is an internationally recognised program and attracts students and teacher from all over the world, it focuses on global processes in areas ranging from economy to migration, conflict and development to the environment. It is research focused, with most teacher being involved in and sharing their researchers and students are trained qualitative research methods. if you need help to process and/or analyse qualitative data, I can help you!
I am a hard-working person and I take pride in delivering high quality material and never miss a deadline.
