I have been working as a translator for about 3 years now. I work for several translation companies outside of Upwork as well. I graduated from the University of Turku in 2013 Spring with a Master's degree in translation. My minor subjects were: Information study, Finnish, creative writing, literature. My working language pair atm. is English to Finnish and vice versa. I can also translate from Swedish to Finnish, or if the content is relatively simple, from Spanish to Finnish. Finnish is my native language, but I also have a certificate from Cambridge, which states that my English skills are at native level.
I have translated and proofread many different types of texts, for example:
- Games and phone applications ( and other IT related things)
- Product packaging and instructions
- Web content, anything from simple marketing texts for shops to industrial websites for heavy machine
- Culture, travel & art
I always respect deadlines and I have never failed to deliver a translation by the agreed time limit. I can help my customer in localizing the content so that a product text or an advertising text is better suited for a Finnish audience. Many times what works in one culture does not work in another. Translation isn't about replacing words with words, it's about getting the meaning across in a way that suits the target culture.
