    Senior Developer, PM

    Russia - Last active: 3 days ago - Tests: 5 - Portfolio: 2

I have strong background in UNIX/Linux software development, Master's Degree in Computer Science. I worked on Enterprise high-load distributed hosting automation systems as a Team Leader (3.5 years in SWsoft, Inc., now called Parallels). For the last 6 years I'm running my own small software development business in Russia with primary focus on Python/Django apps. Not pure Web but often involving integration with hardware (Proximity Cards, Sensor Screens) or external systems like Payment Processing, SMS Gateways, GABRIEL (Airline Reservation System), etc. I can take an idea and turn it into a working business, through all the intermediate stages. Also I have experience of investing my own funds in my projects, so I feel the difference between "perfect code" in a month and "good enough" code that increases the revenue right now. Nevertheless, my code is very good: no copy-paste, always written with performance, flexibility and security in mind, etc. On oDesk I'm looking for (and actually find :) interesting projects with a sight on long-term fruitful cooperation. I'm also open to smaller activities (e.g., consulting) where my knowledge can be helpful.

Specializing in Server Administration, Configuration, and Deployment

United States - Last active: 2 days ago - Tests: 5

I have been in the telecommunications industry for over 13 years and have worked as a consultant to major Fortune 500 companies in the past for both business and technology needs. I have a vast knowledge of anything that relates to the internet, both hardware and software realms and have worked on a variety of projects ranging from the simple to large scale transition ones spanning months at a time. I understand a business' need to get projects done right the first time and have always exceeded my clients goals. If they're not happy, I'm not happy. I have a dual bachelors degree from the University of Colorado at Denver in Business Information Technologies and Business Management. My Masters in Business Administration is in International Business and most IT skills I have picked up on my own or through various courses either online or at the local community college. I look forward to working with you and completing any projects you may have, from the quick fix to an entire server farm rebuild. I am also a word class back end programmer familiar with MySQL, Bash, PHP, Perl, and Python. Please, no front end design work, I don't have an eye for creativity (unless it's something simple of course). I look forward to working with you and any projects you may have for me.

Multifaceted Virtual Assistant. Business support branch

    Sweden - Last active: 16 days ago - Tests: 17 - Portfolio: 4

My previous line of work led to the start of a VA business. My goal is to work with what I like and keep up the trend of various tasks. The rate described is my lowest rate, which I usually apply because I sometimes like to do assignments to keep my skills at a recent level, and then that rate apply. On the other hand could other duties require a higher rate. My VA role is one of the multi-skilled, or multifaceted as I use for marketing since I've learned a lot of different skills during the positions I held. I'm very service minded, as I started out as a cashier and office girl and had the privilege to work with people with genuine feeling for service. I find it likable and I also think it makes sense to keep a service minded attitude towards customers. If you see someone without a smile - give them one of your kind of recaps what service is. Additionally to the service offered in the line of work, that is. Later on I've for several years each, held positions as sales secretary, school secretary, administrative consultant, application specialist and web/system developer. Besides having extensive work experience, the studying of sociology, psychology and computer science at an academic level constitutes useful knowledge. Still today I feel at home in almost any constellation of work, I like to do repetitive tasks from time to time, and challenging tasks from time to time. Work satisfaction is important to me, and it means delivering good results, to be of benefit to the receiver. For myself the help and learn part goes a long way. One other thing to mention is that I learned to type at an early age. That skill has been both useful and fun during the years. Besides skills in service and typing, I'm interested in languages, both human and computer. Regarding human language, I write with a fine imagination, do my research and have a splendid vocabulary. Regarding computers, I like to make life easier for end users, and I also focus on usability. Regarding both languages, I also like to enhance the experience for the reader/user. Oh, I nearly forgot (if you're still reading this short essay that is), I also do some graphic designs from time to time. Web design, Logo designs, Business Cards, Newsletter, formatting in Word, layouts in PowerPoint and so on! We need beautiful things! Cheers!

    Interaction Designer, IA, UX Consultant

    Ukraine - Last active: 10 days ago - Tests: 20 - Portfolio: 11

Me and others of my profession have a good understanding of how people seek information, how they react to different elements of digital products, and how they use such products. With this knowledge, I can greatly improve your website or application so users would love it more and it would serve business goals better. What you get when having a good interaction designer in the team is that your products are not made of standard decisions. Instead, I try to anticipate how the user will really use the product, how he would expect it to work and be organized. Then I can come up with solutions that suit this exact case much better. Work of an interaction designer greatly reduces the risk that the team would develop a feature (or product) which customers won't like and won't use. I follow a design process described in Jesse Garrett's book "Elements of User Experience". At the level of strategy, I discuss business and user goals with the client. Then I use my knowledge of Information Architecture and Interaction Design to determine what features and content the project should have to meet those goals and structure the features and content in a way the user would expect them to be. Then I build an interactive prototype - a set of detailed wireframes of every page, linked to each other and imitating the behavior of the end product. I use Axure for this purpose. When approved, the wireframes should go to a visual designer. This process is much better than putting visual design first and thinking how you should make something eye-catchy, before figuring out how users will interact with it and devising best ways for it to work. It's better that I start my work early on, when there is only a concept. This way I can put your project onto the right track from the beginning. I'm 7 years in web development overall. I have a background in project management, SEO, content management and linguistics.

Expert Project Manager and Web Developer

    Bulgaria - Last active: 1 day ago - Tests: 4 - Portfolio: 2

I've worked as a Web developer (mostly in PHP 5/MySQL although I started in Perl and I've also done some Ruby on Rails) since 1999 (yes, there was a World Wide Web back then) but I've been a project manager in the past years. I'm looking for some extra work so I can keep my development skills in shape (and because I still love programming).
