I am a medical language, desktop publishing, and advertising copy expert, currently employed in the health information technology field. I am a certified trainer of electronic medical records, and implement EMR systems at specialty medical offices of all sizes, which includes teaching physicians and other healthcare professionals how to document using the software. After thorough workflow due diligence, I build customized databases to optimize physician workflows and efficiency. To prepare my users, I have contributed to the writing, editing and production of training manuals, tips-tricks sheets, e-learning modules, web-based tutorials, and presentations.
I have been contracted to write, edit and produce print-ready artwork, advertising copy for automotive, entertainment, restaurant, hospitality, medical, legal, and communications clients. I have extensive experience working as a freelance medical/legal documentation specialist, transcribing patient reports (surgical, progress, and referral notes), writing memos, newsletters, proposals, manuscripts, technology/software how-to instruction packages, and corporate ID materials. I've created career-focused resumes, curriculum vitae, and cover letters which have helped my clients to stand out from their candidate peers and win jobs.
I am an experienced user of Adobe Captivate, Microsoft Word, Publisher, Visio, and PowerPoint, although I must admit Excel gives me a headache! I have the unique ability to learn software applications quickly and thoroughly and translate that knowledge into easy-to-follow, focused instruction materials.
I have been published in Guideposts magazine, Detroit-area newspapers, have won two essay contests...and I have helped countless friends and associates out of the dog house by writing love letters.
I produce tight, succinct business communications, and I can flip the creative switch to produce prose that will make you laugh, cry, laugh, or become inspired.
