Soma Pandey is Computer Engineer and a doctorate from U.K. She has 2 decades of experience in India and International market having a successful track record in starting business, operations, creating innovative solutions and customer management. Way back in 2000, while embedded systems development was on papers, she was instrumental in bringing open source tools for embedded development.
During the journey, she setup Accelerated Systems Pvt. Ltd. in the year 1999. This company served as platform for embedded development and accomplished many prestigious projects in embedded firmware development for overseas clients. Has served as a CTO of Accelerated Systems and been a part of steering committee since its inception. Soma quickly gained insight into various aspects of starting a new business and took up the responsibility of heading ASPL Admin, Infrastructure and HR functions. With her experience in quality certifications, she was responsible to setup quality process and methods to ensure ISO / SEI CMM certifications at ASPL. Accelerated Systems emerged as centre of excellence for many embedded system companies to manage onsite offshore models in India and offered its customers with ‘real value for money’ services by enabling them with solutions led embedded systems performance and test automation. Through Accelerated Systems, Soma has brought and established many multinational business houses in India including Microcross, Cogent and Microdigital Inc, from U.S., Abatron AG. From Switzerland, Blue River Software Gmbh from Denmark and Compulabs from Israel to name a few.
Her ability to listen to customer problems and come out with innovative solutions and delivering it on time has been recognized by many organizations and people whom she has worked with. Soma is a strong business leader and a strategist who can establish business goals / plans and motivate teams to ensure organizational success. After her organisation Accelerated Systems Pvt. Ltd.’s merger with Essel Group, she continued to work with the business house to develop latest innovative solutions for utility domain. An active participant in various networking forums providing insights on markets, products and services, she has served in various capacities in forums such as IEEE, NASSCOM and TRAI.
Soma Pandey has bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from NIT Bhopal in 1991. She has master’s degree from BITS, Pilani specializing in software systems. She started her professional career in 1991 as a lecturer in computer science engineering in Mumbai University later to serve as lecturer for National Institute of Technology, Bhopal.
Soma took a break from her career in 1996 to take care of family needs and in 1999 she joined hands with a few focused entrepreneurs and founded Accelerated Systems Pvt. Ltd. (ASPL), an embedded systems development organisation. Although it was a fundamental shift for her in terms of career, Soma showed grit, determination and will to play pivotal role in the success of Accelerated Systems.
She has a wide experience in embedded systems and wireless networks. While working with the Essel group she undertook doctoral research in wireless networks from Coventry University, U.K. She completed her research in 2015. Her doctoral research pertains to creating a low cost communication backbone for smart cities using a combination of Wi-Fi and Broadband over Power line. She has a sharp eye in evaluating future technology trends and valuation of Technology solutions and has been an expert reviewer for IEEE conferences in Asia Pacific region. She has more than 15 international publications and her range of expertise is very wide from Big Data to Smart City and Internet of Things. She has a good knowledge of executing tough projects from beginning to end and has broad exposure from IT to wireless networking. She has been instrumental in establishing development and sales of niche products including the Open Source embedded tool chain, in-circuit emulators and JTAG debuggers. She has led projects in developing Intelligent Middle Ware for various embedded and network control centres.
