Research experience in the development of modeling and simulation
systems. This includes:
- solution of partial differential equations with the finite element method
- computer implementation of finite element systems
- algorithms for the solution of nonlinear partial differential equations
- high performance computing using: the message passing interface library
(MPI), thread programming (OpenMP), and graphic processing units (cuda)
Experienced in the programming of computer graphic applications on UNIX/LINUX platforms. This includes knowledge of the following programming
libraries: OpenGL, xMotif, X11, and the cuda programming language
Experienced with the administration of UNIX/LINUX computer networks
Experienced with scientific writing, peer reviewed papers (20), invited lectures (12), grants (6 funded), proposal review for multiple agencies including the National science Foundation, and the National Institute of Health.
Industry experience as consultant in software development. Related skills include the write up of specifications for programmers, planning of computational resources, and set up of development environment
Realization: (i) developed a large scale system to simulate impulse propagation in cardiac tissue, (ii) used it to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of arrhythmias and predict the effect of antiarrhythmic drugs, (iii) simulated a time of flight mass spectrometer and built a prototype, (iv) built a system to reconstruct geometric models (e.g.) from multiple imaging modalities, (iv) developed new algorithms to determine the kinetics of membrane proteins from signals collected in isolated cells.
