Computer Vision & Simulation, Algorithms & Statistics, GIS

    Russia - Last active: 1 day ago - Tests: 6 - Portfolio: 9

I have a Master's degree in radiophysics and electronics. In addition to fundamental mathematics and physics knowledge I specialized in computer simulation and computer vision technics. My experience ranges from research to applications. I prefer simple solutions and reliable technologies. I make compact and fast applications having a vast background in producing firmware for embedded devices with relatively small RAM, slow CPU, and very long uptime. Cross-platform programming is not hard, it is the only way :) In addition, I am experienced in full-stack development: * client-side programming (python, R, Tcl/Tk), * server-side programming (python, R, C, Tcl/Tk, shell scripting, etc.), * database programming (PostgreSQL, SQLite, OpenLink Virtuoso), * C programming of RDBMS (SQLite), * web programming (JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5), * mobile programming (java, PhoneGap), * and some other.

20+ years expert SQL database designer preferring MySQL and PHP.

    United States - Last active: 1 day ago - Tests: 48 - Portfolio: 4

I am one of the top database design specialists on Upwork. My sophisticated hand-crafted database design will save your organization significant time and money. I am a serious professional with over 20 years of experience as a programmer and database specialist. My emphasis has been on creating elegant SQL database design integrated with user-friendly front-end software (desktop and web applications). I have worked mainly as a database designer, programmer and database administrator for bioinformatics, biochemistry, molecular biology, and biomedical research applications. I also have extensive experience programming database-centric software (websites, web applications, desktop applications) for publishing, business, financial, personnel and other purposes. One of the things I enjoy most is creating database schemas which make sense for both programmers and non-programmers, designing with an eye toward flawless data integrity, maximum maintainability and optimal performance. I love crafting websites and web applications which perform with shocking speed. It makes for a better experience for users, developers and administrators. My expertly designed database systems - with well-written queries, intelligently chosen indices, and sensible caching strategies - can easily perform 10 to 100 times faster (using the same underlying hardware). My emphasis when working with clients is on their data and system usability, not specific trends or technologies. But in case you're wondering about some specifics, I strongly believe that the database data should be integrated with but also somewhat independent from a presentation/application layer. Data in the database should be easily accessible from one or many different applications built using one or multiple different technologies. Currently I favor PHP/JavaScript/HTML5 for web applications, RealBasic/Real Studio/Xojo for cross-platform applications [Mac OS X/Windows/Linux], Xcode for Mac OS X-only/iOS applications, Visual Studio for Windows desktop applications. I prefer using MySQL for back-end RDBMS, but I also use Oracle, Microsoft MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL and SQLite on a regular basis. If your data and information organization is already in great shape, and if you are satisfied with how your database-integrated software and website performs, then you probably don't need a high-end expert like me. I can make routine modifications, add to well-crafted existing systems, etc. But so can many other people. But if you're just getting started on a new system that you want done right, or if you suspect your database website programming strategy needs an overhaul, then I can get you on the right track in a short amount of time. * * * * * * * * Let me mention a few of the client-friendly policies and practices I apply with all my clients. I don't do these things to distinguish myself from other contractors. (I would hope they all do the same.) I do these simply because this is how I would want to be treated if I was the client: - You don't need to have your own web servers; I can host development and/or live production work on my own high-capacity servers. - I don't mind working on a client's servers, or doing dev work on my servers and transfering finished work to client's servers. - I do not charge clients any fees for hosting their websites or software systems, or for moving their websites or software systems elsewhere. - I provide clients with root log-in access to all the work I do for them; you are welcome to log into the server (cPanel, FTP, and phpMyAdmin) at any time and copy or back-up or move any work I do for you. - If I am working for you, all work product, all source code, all database design belongs to you. Always. Period. - I am happy to work with you and/or other programmers you enlist to work on a project; I am happy to pass off development work. - I do not provide mysterious "black box" solutions. I am happy to have you look under the hood at everything I do. You don't need to know anything at all about the inner workings of a system. Or you're welcome to ask about the most intricate details. - If we're developing a system from scratch, I prefer to do so using very widely-available technologies (PHP/MySQL/JavaScript/HTML5) which you can hire countless other people to work on if you decide to have other developers work on your system. - Do not be embarrassed to ask ANY question! I enjoy working with clients who have zero technical know-how in programming/databases/etc., partially because I appreciate their expertise in OTHER fields (real estate, art, medicine, law, science, civics, etc.) If you already know everything about databases and programming you probably wouldn't need me, would you?

    György George Csala

    top-grade, full scale software developer

Hungary - Last active: 4 days ago - Portfolio: 3

I'm an expert high capacity scraper builder. (Amongst some 12 other major areas of operation in IT and software development.) Most likely the best of the few top scrapers on Upwork (and Elance). I can write software in Phyton, Javascript, VB.net, C#, C++, Java, PHP, VB6/VBA and other scripting languages. More than 15 languages. Also, I have intermediate web programming and web operations knowledge. (Ie. setting up an optimized server farm with up to 5000 servers.) My scraper softwares extracted far more than 1 billion (!) data rows since Feb 2008. I wrote more than 2 million (!) lines of code since 1986. I test code and also data quality in depth. Data quality is the missing ingredient in almost all programmers. In part time, I'm a special Software Quality Management Engineer known for wide spread knowledge of software QA ensuring REAL software quality from the conception through well established sales activities and finally good delivery for almost any software product or service. Part of this is being a Software Application Security expert. (Software Quality Management Engineer is a top management post. It is called engineer because it uses wide range of exact technologies.) Your satisfaction is guaranteed anytime I undertake a job small or large! I don't want to into more details, because it may seem very complicated and hard to understand. However, one of my major policies is that I need to make software use as simple as possible for users. And as convenient as possible. Within reasonable usage of development time and resources. Correctly working systems is the most major policy. It is extremely hard to attain. (Not even big companies can do this! None of them! Check out their user forums!) And sorry, don't compare my efficiency, speed, skill and correctness of work to others with less than 20 years experience ! It can't be compared ! Because I have much wider experience and knowledge base. Just to give you a proper performance comparison. I've been work my on Office like product which has approximately 5 times usage value and functionality of any Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access and OneNote. But I only use 1/1000 or less of resources MS had used and I'll have a 5 times better product in functionality and convenience. So, this is my efficiency. Even if it doesn't apply fully to scraping projects, I can do 3-10 times better scraping than any practiced individual. (It can be even 200 times better in rare cases.)

experienced database developer, programmer, financial analyst

Croatia - Last active: 1 day ago - Tests: 1

My jobs so far included analysis of customer requirements, consulting, coding and deployment on two major projects (one was developing ERP for telecommunication sales company and other was on-line system for tracking shares and funds values), work on few smaller projects and teaching (databases, math, programming, logic). Most of smaller projects were applications based on MS Access, usually connected to MS Excel as data source or output for further analysis. Most of my work was/is related with databases from database modeling and coding and than producing complete applications with GUI. Technologies I used so far were MS-SQL, MySQL, MS Access+Ms Excel (few complete applications with more than 50 forms each in usage by clients), C++, Pascal. Maybe most interesting is development of complete MS Access applications as well as using VBA in Access or/and Excel, but feel free to contact me for any of above. I think that my experience and knowledge are enough to get job done faster (and of course cheaper) but not loosing any quality in process.
