Senior Software Engineer & Architect Specializing in .NET Technologies

    United States - Last active: 1 day ago - Tests: 6 - Portfolio: 4

For 15+ years I have been developing software from all angles - back-end through front-end. I have worked with numerous languages, frameworks and tools but find myself happiest when working with the .NET Framework/C# - I have worked with the .NET Framework since it was first released. Over the past decade-and-a-half, I have proven myself a valuable asset to any team/project on which I have been placed. I have very strong development skills including .NET (C#), database design, UI/UX, front-end (HTML5, CSS3, JS), back-end (SQL Server, MySQL), web services/APIs, etc. I always end up being the go-to guy for other team members when they have questions and I'm happy to mentor more junior developers. I've worked on projects of all sizes ranging from small internal systems to large public-facing systems. I am constantly keeping up with the latest trends in software development and in my free time I usually have one or two personal projects going on. I tend to prefer working with C# but have also worked with Java/J2EE, Ruby on Rails, PHP, etc. I am open to other languages, technologies and frameworks - whichever is best for the job. I have strong front-end web development experience including working with 3rd party frameworks such as jQuery, jQuery UI, Knockout, Bootstrap and others. I have designed and built web applications from scratch and have also worked with designers to implement functionality based on pre-determined designs. I'm a hard working software engineer who prides himself on the quality and completeness of his work. I work efficiently while adhering to best practices and remaining mindful of performance, potential bottlenecks, memory usage, etc. I would be a great addition to any project as a single developer or as a new developer on an existing team.

    Lucas Hardy

Developer specializing in .Net, ASP.Net, and SQL

United States - Last active: 1 month ago - Tests: 4

I love programming, and I love providing users with software that solves their problems. My greatest passion is for the lowest levels of a system, not just software itself but also the development process. I get the most satisfaction out of improving efficiency and understandability of a system's core, resulting in a smoother experience for both users and co-workers. I have spent more than seven years developing and maintaining mostly web applications in mostly Microsoft shops. My most-practiced tech skills are thus with ASP.Net, .Net in general (both C# and Visual Basic), various web service protocols such as SOAP for both AJAX and interoperability, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, and SQL, especially Microsoft's T-SQL. I have gotten my hands dirty with administration of the related tools, such as Visual Studio, Visual SourceSafe, Team Foundation Server, IIS, and Microsoft SQL Server, including SQL Server Reporting Services. Other technologies I have passing experience with include Java, Apache web server, PostgreSQL, Python, PHP, and Android. A great deal of my time has also been spent working on the development process. I have authored, implemented, and enforced the complete software development life-cycle, including security and best practices policies. I have coordinated development with other related departments, such as product support, quality assurance, and management. I have prioritized, delegated, and mentored for fellow developers. I have organized and directed deployment of final releases, including documentation and communication with end users and colleagues. If you want a programmer who not only really knows his tools and takes pride in the quality and longevity of his code, but who also knows how to make the work smoother and faster with good communication and good organization, that's me.

Expert Video Editor/Animator with Print Media & Web Design experience

    United States - Last active: 3 months ago - Tests: 2 - Portfolio: 1

I'm currently making my way as a multimedia designer, freelance-style. Here's a brief history of me career-wise: I received a BA from Franklin and Marshall College in Neuroscience. I had designs on becoming a doctor. To this end, I completed all coursework toward an MA in Pathophysiology at SUNY-Buffalo, whereupon the plan was to apply to med schools. But I'd gotten a little creative by this point in my life in the way of writing fiction and drawing. By dint of some of these samples, I hung a U-ey, tires screeching and all, and applied to film school. So now I have an MFA in Film and Media Arts from Temple University. After a fair amount of grad-level work in cinematography and 16mm film, I shifted my focus to screenwriting. After a brief foray into the publishing world (satisfying a writing bug is a persistent theme in my life), I parlayed my MFA into a series of gigs in corporate video. Great experiences all. At Bluestone Software, I edited a lot of audio and video, learned some Flash, HTML, CSS and even some OOP fundamentals. Bluestone Software was sold to Hewlett Packard, and they promptly dismantled the once-promising startup. Still, very cool to have witnessed the "dotcom" age firsthand. I scrambled for a couple of years - freelancing as a video editor, teaching screenwriting and film analysis, being a tech for a U-Penn sleep study, etc. I got back into corporate video at Pharmastar. This was a mom and pop shop specializing in the creation of training programs and materials - print and video - for clinical drug trials. Here I did a ton of video editing - medical education kind of stuff -.and had an intro to motion graphics. As Pharmastar grew into United BioSource Corporation(UBC), I grew into a Production Manager and then even Associate Director of the Creative Services Department, where at the apex of the position I managed Translations, Instructional Design and Video Production. And I think I did a decent job of it. I loved and respected the people I managed. Alas, I didn't enjoy the administrative aspects very much and didn't have the right energy for it, not in a corporate setting anyway. So even as I was moving up, I kind of wanted to come back down ... to the making of things, to getting behind a desk and trying shit out- that is, drawing out the artistic from a terrain that might otherwise be kind of dry. I went to film school, after all. Had eschewed the lucrative sciences in favor of writing and drawing. So I asked to step down, which was tough to do. It took a year to find the right time to transition but eventually it did happen, and I am forever thankful for it. Again a lot of video production and video editing. But this time around, I got delved deeper motion graphics - Motion and After Effects. I learned some 2D and 3D animation - After Effects and Blender. Also, I finally patched up a long-neglected absence in my multimedia skillset and learned a good deal of graphic design - Photoshop and Illustrator. These were good times and I learned a lot and produced, shot and edited some useful instructional videos. By now, however, UBC was sold to Medco, who in turn merged with Express Scripts, who found little use for our division and spun us off as Bracket. Business floundered a bit during this time and there was some downsizing... which brings me to where I am now. I have been freelancing ever since, which is great... most of the time. By the way, you can visit my website - www.vivekgahunia.com - to see some samples and learn a little more about me. At this point in time, the website is a work in progress and I will have more samples on there in the coming weeks and months. What I can offer: Video Production - I've produced many shoots, using professional HD cameras. I know how to light a scene, run a set, etc. Video Editing - I am expert in FCP and Premiere, though I work primarily in the latter at this point. Animation - I am expert in AfterEffects and am equipped with some DigiEffects plugins. I am proficient in Edge Animate as well, if you're looking for code-ready animations. Graphic Design - I'm not a hardcore visual artist - i.e. I did not go to art school But I am proficient in the creation of elements in support of animation as well as stand-along print media items. For instance, if you want a newsletter, I can design one for you in InDesign. And smaller items like business cards, postcards, logo creation, I can do that also. Web Design - This is not something I do very much of, but I know HTML, CSS and Javascript. And I am familliar with PHP and MySQL, too. So if you need work along these lines as well, I'm willing to listen. Copywriting/Screenwriting - this is a forte of mine, for sure. If you need any kind of writing or editorial services, I think I'd prove to be of great help to you. Translations - I can coordinate this service for you. In my corporate life, I had founded and managed the Translations department.
