During my undergraduate education, I have become enveloped in the study of human computer interaction. Through my studies in mathematics, software development, and design, I have found that ubiquitous computing will lead to success in art, science, and education. I am currently pursuing the connection between computers and collaboration by creating usable interfaces, intelligent systems, and human centered designs. People use digital artifacts every day. Those that are significant are ones that provide practical and navigable solutions to problems provided by their users. While pursuing a career in Human Centered Design and Engineering, I hope to understand these needs so that I may properly connect information with those who wish to use it.
In my academic experiences, class discussions have fueled my interest in information. As an active participant during in-class lectures, dialogues, and brainstorming sessions, I have become dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge. In facing my academic and professional goals, many challenges will have to be approached with a dynamic set of solutions. My skills in collaboration, conversation, and technical writing have provided me with a strong foundation to continue towards my goal of creating experiences with accessible information. I am currently gaining experience with research methods and statistical analysis in my coursework and an on-campus research group. I am excited to see how corporate approaches to research methods compare and contrast with those I am learning in theory and practice. My current experience in technical support has given me a user-oriented perspective to design and communication. By continuing to investigate users of technology, I will be better able to create user-focused solutions in my academic and professional career.
I consider myself to be a creative individual. My music, writing, and software applications provide me with alternative ways to communicate my understanding of the world. I hope to develop these interests during my time spent at UW. At the same time, I want to continue my involvement in its educational and cultural communities. In Seattle, I have become accustomed to a society formed by many perspectives. By better understanding of the world around me, I have become prepared for a future in business, art, or academia. I am excited to complete my formal education as it will change the way I think. An education at University of Washington has provided me with knowledge, perspective, and an opportunity to unleash my creative potential. I hope to continue to find similar avenues of self-expression in the professional world.
