    I am what is commonly known as a Girl Friday. I have mostly worked for small businesses, which means that everybody does what needs doing. When I start a job in an industry which I don't know very much about it is not long until I learn everything I can. I am not satisfied with just doing my job, when I give someone advice about work they would like done I want to know why I am telling them to do it this way. Working in design is not simply sticking pictures together and making it pretty. I had to learn about types of printing, how colours and inks work, how different programs work better for different applications and also how to use a person’s words to create what they are seeing in their head. Working in hospitality taught me about people, there is nothing more difficult than trying to keep a liquored person happy, and a happy customer means better tips. Everyone is different, how I speak to one person will make another person angry, and I had to learn to read people in a matter of minutes. However, judgement had to be completely disposed of. Just because you drive a Lamborghini that does not mean you get preferential treatment over the guy who delivers pizza's for a living. Working in the motor industry meant I had to learn about cars and I had to know what I was talking about. Because I am female I had to be absolutely positive about what I said, as Mahindra is first and foremost a workhorse, used by men who work on farms, mines and in construction. This type of man is not impressed by fancy words and empty promises. If you say something, your knowledge had better be sound because there is a good chance he knows more about the topic than he lets on. Working in the industrial coatings industry I had to learn about every step of the process, from pre-treatment to delivery of the final product. Every product is different and requires different procedures, many products have mandatory processes that must achieve a certain standard and every step must be documented. I had to learn how different materials are treated and how the final product can also affect this. For example a stainless steel screw that is to be used on a submarine would be treated differently to the same screw that will be used for a satellite that is erected in the Karoo. I read voraciously and am always thirsty for knowledge, I do not form an opinion based on what I am told. Instead I research everything I can find about the topic and use what I have learned to form my own opinion. I always deliver 110% and will do everything in my power to be sure that what I deliver is the very best that I am capable of. All I ask is the chance to prove this to you, my potential employer.
