Scientific or medical research editor/ writer/ proof reader

United Kingdom - Last active: 3 days ago

I am a hardworking, friendly, enthusiastic and reliable person. I thrive in demanding work environments, am highly motivated and take pride in completing tasks to the best of my ability. A brief summary of education and experience: -BSc in Medical Biochemistry at Kings College London University, -Scientific Editorial Assistant at British Journal of Cancer, -PhD in Environmental Toxicology and Microbiology, -Research Associate at Kings College London University. Detailed outline of education and experience: Research Associate on the Traffic project, Kings College London University: The traffic project is a large multi-institution research project to better understand the health problems caused by air pollution and noise from traffic in London. My responsibility in this project was to determine pollution toxicity and metal content on a daily basis, then to construct an analytical data-set of daily time-series measurements comprising a comprehensive range of pollution metrics. This involved intensive laboratory processing as well as analysis and handling of a meta-database. Research Associate on the Exhale study, Kings College London University: The Exhale study is a project to assess the impact of the London Low Emission Zone (LEZ), introduced as a measure to improve the air quality in London. This study was designed to assess the impact of the LEZ on the respiratory health of school children in East London. My responsibility in this study involved conducting health assessments in 8-9 year-old children, including measurements of respiratory health, biomarkers of exposure to traffic-related air pollution, genetic susceptibility to the effects of air pollution and systemic response to air pollution. As part of this study, we also provided education for the Year 4 class at each school we visited, teaching them about the science and history of air pollution. BBSRC funded PhD Studentship, University of Dundee: I completed a PhD in Environmental Toxicology, within the Division of Molecular Microbiology, investigating the toxicity and occurrence of a naturally occurring aquatic neurotoxin, produced by cyanobacteria (Blue-Green Algae). BMAA is associated with neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS and acts as an excitotoxin by hyper-activating glutamatergic Ca2+ signalling pathways. This provided me with many skills including excellent research experience, independent project management, lateral thinking, multi-tasking, presentation and analytical skills. In addition I achieved a wealth of tertiary level teaching experience; directing practical laboratory demonstration for undergraduate courses, as well as being responsible for the full time supervision of undergraduate and master’s students. I developed very good communication skills, presenting my personal and collaborative research at many international conferences, to a range of medical and scientific disciplines. I also published in peer reviewed journals and was selected as a specialist referee for peer reviewed analytical scientific journals. August 2005 – February 2006 British Journal of Cancer, CRUK Scientific Editorial Assistant • Position included all aspects of assistance for publishing authors and editorial board, allowing me to develop my scientific communication skills and understanding of the peer-reviewed publishing process. • Administrative duties included receipt and recording of manuscripts, proof reading, referencing and organising referees. Scientific publications: Purdie, E.L., Samsudin, S., Eddy, F.B., Codd, G.A. French marketing translator / Copywriter

United Kingdom - Last active: 24 days ago

My background: Passionate about languages, I have been very hands on with regards to localisation for the past six years with work including translation and copywriting for some major global brands on many ATL advertising campaigns. My agency background gives me the edge and a clear understanding on clients’ needs in terms of timings, quality and confidentiality. Services I provide: transcreation, copywriting, subtitling, editing and proofreading. Field of expertise: Marketing (press releases, brochures, websites, apps, social network content, apps, interactive media, etc.) List of brands I work for available on demand. What do clients say about my work? "Did an excellent, creative and highly-articulate V1 on a recent transcreation job. Very impressed by the calibre of her work." Jan, 2014 "Camille worked on a couple of leaflets for us recently (btw, with a very short turnaround time) and managed to further improve the quality of copy that was already to a very high standard. She made some minor changes that made the copy sound truly idiomatic. That final touch that makes all the difference and leaves no possibility of it being seen as a translation." Apr, 2014 "Excellent translator. Good communication and a pleasure to work with!" Jun, 2014
