Xavier Leret is Playwright, Performer, Theatre Maker, Film Director and Novelist. He is the former Artistic Director of the Award Winning Ensemble KAOS Theatre. Writing includes THE FANTASTICAL ADVENTURES OF LEONARDO DA VINCI (a commission for the International Festival of Perth, Western Australia), RENAISSANCE (a Millennium Award Winner), ISLE OF DOGS, THIRST, ALICE, CALIGULA, SWING, METROPOLIS, and an adaptation of Bulgakov's THE MASTER & MARGARITA (nominated for the best production on the Dublin Fringe and an Edinburgh Fringe First). Directing - all the above and (amongst others) THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST (Winner of The Stage Award, Best Ensemble, Time Out Critics Choice) VOLPONE (Nominated for The Stage Award, Best Ensemble), TITUS ANDRONICUS, RICHARD III (nominated for a Manchester Evening News Award), and A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM described by the BBC online as 'a fresh masterpiece'. He has taught theatre practise all over the world in universities, conservatoires and schools to students of all ages. He has written and directed two feature films, MINE (a 'breakthrough movie' LUFF 2007) and KUNG FU FLID, the world's first "cripsploitation' movie, starring thalidomide actor Mat Fraser, Frank Harper and Faye Tozer. KUNG FU FLID is distributed by Anchor Bay Entertainment. He regularly reads his stories with the BOOK CLUB BOUTIQUE and Velvet Tongue in venues throughout London and abroad. He has an MA in Creative Writing from Birkbeck College, University of London. Xavier has had two stories published in The Mechanics Institute Review Issues seven and eight. He is a member of the board of the celebrated publisher Dedalus Books, his first novel DAIZEE is being developed with them.
