Perl Developer, Systems Architect, Linux Admin

    Ukraine - Last active: 01/22/2014 - Tests: 9 - Portfolio: 15

Experienced in developing distributed systems, network services and backends for websites in Perl. I can develop complete website solution from Linux server installation and administration to complex modern web-interface in JavaScript (except graphical design). I'm developing software since 1989. I work as Perl/Web Developer since 1997. Development priorities: code simplicity and clarity, reliability, security, efficiency. I've experience with Apache and Nginx web servers, MySQL and NoSQL databases, Mojolicious and Backbone.js frameworks, Perl/HTML/JavaScript/CSS, FastCGI, non-blocking I/O, event-oriented and concurrent programming, complex parsing (fetching, parsing and processing complex data from thousands pages on hundreds websites every minute), service-oriented architecture, distributed computing, developing Perl modules, automated testing, … I work as Linux admin since 1994. Experienced in developing own Linux distribution from scratch (2001-2004). I've strong focus on security and since 2004 use Hardened Gentoo Linux. Experienced in developing large systems (50000+ man/hours) as Systems Architect and Senior Developer. Experienced Team Leader and Manager for small team (about 10 developers/testers). Also I'm author of many articles (mostly in Russian) and have small experience (about 6 months) as Top Manager in software company (about 200 employee). Since 2001 I'm working as full-time freelancer. I never agree to work which must be done quickly in exchange for quality. I like to do things in the Right Way and prefer simplicity and minimalism. I'm interested in tasks which should be implemented using OS Inferno and language Limbo (which usually mean distributed and/or highly concurrent systems). I'm looking for long-term business relationships with customers. More details (a lot of my open source software, perl modules, articles, links to LinkedIn/GitHub/etc. profiles) available on my website: http://powerman.name/

Software Architect, Technology Mentor & Coach

    Pakistan - Last active: 21 hours ago - Tests: 4 - Portfolio: 3

Guy with big shoes who spent a lot of time in rushing into the technology stacks. He mostly get his hands dirty with high engineering where we need to start with atomicity, enhancement, scalability and distributed architectures. He knows what we have to do when the implementation is not just about the tech talk. Wait, did you asked write me to write the for loop? Well, there are a lot of other challenges as well when it comes to the choice of stack, selection of right platform and ability to end up with the exact matters! He has experience of working with different frameworks, languages & platforms. Usually, you'll find his hands dirty into something really reliable and that is making out high-end engineering. He's familiar with the solutions & principles required to write own framework as he has written couple of MVC, HMVC & boilerplate frameworks in PHP & Node.js. In back days, he was working with PHP and spent all of his big part in that. But now you'll always find him working on Node.js with some top class stacks to make robust & scalable products. Hamza is *nix (OSX / Linux) enthusiast so don't tell about benefits of using #windows. The guy with entrepreneurial spirit (no, I'm not that fake VISIONARY ENTREPRENEUR) and is already co-founding few startup companies. Simple solutions to hard problems

    United Kingdom - Last active: 07/25/2013 - Tests: 1

I focus on systems engineering and infrastructure. I have a strong background in mathematics and computer science. My own research is focused on the use of staged compilation, domain-specific languages and data-centric programming to reduce incidental complexity in software systems, especially distributed systems and p2p networks. I'm comfortable with clojure, python, erlang and ocaml but I will learn whatever is the right tool for the job. In the past that has included C#, Scala, Javascript and Haskell. http://scattered-thoughts.net/about.html https://github.com/jamii/

  7. Emilio Hernández

    Emilio Hernández

Computer Scientist with experience in Computer Networks

Venezuela - Last active: 3 months ago - Tests: 2

I was a lecturer and researcher at Universidad Simón Bolívar, in Venezuela, and I am currently retired. I am only 50, but according to Venezuelan laws, academic staff are entitled to retire just after 25 years of service. I was a lecturer mainly in computer networks and researcher in distributed systems and high performance computing applied to several areas. My PhD thesis, at Southampton University, UK, was related to performance analisis of parallel computers. Now I plan to spend my time writing books about computing and networks, probably in other topics too. However, I can spend a few hours a week doing paid, quality minded jobs, such as collaboration in high performance computing projects, technical translations from english to spanish or some kind of job in network or system administration I could do from home. I am willing to do test jobs.

    Bill Demos

    Software Architect

    Greece - Last active: 04/28/2014 - Tests: 3 - Portfolio: 6

I finished my degree, BSc Honours in Computer Science at the University of Leeds, England, at the age of 22. Since then I have had more than 15 years of experience in building large scale applications using Delphi, C++ Builder, Microsoft VB, Microsoft C++ and Microsoft C#. Other skills involve 3D programming with DirectX, OpenGL, and HLSL. I have a very good physics and mathematical background which allow me to easily develop physics simulation systems, 3D visualisation systems and deal with problem solving. I can easily program client/server multitier applications that involve network communications such as TCP/IP programming, SOAP and a lot of other proprietary and standard network protocols, such as POP and Web Services among others. All application programming at some point involves storing data in a persistent storage. I have been writing applications that span over from custom database development, such as binary tree/hash tree indexing units, to using ready made relational database systems such as SQL Server, Interbase, Oracle and Access.

Let's move together to greater, greener and creative tomorrow! I've got most of my experience in: Linux, Bash, PHP, HTML(5)/CSS, Perl, Python, automation scripts (crawlers/scrapers/mirroring/downloading), writing applications, C/C++, video (desktop sessions) creating, editing, working with multimedia (audio, images, video). Also I am network security specialist and can help in a variety of situations such as lost passwords, lost access, etc. I can perform a forensics/security test of your web/application to ensure that it hasn't serious security issues. Lastly, I am working with automation and ARM electronics such as Arduino in case for different projects such as 3D printing. For all of this tasks I use free and opensource software. I have many solutions in different situations that can be used as a templates - that is why I am working fast and efficient. Please contact me if you need any further details or information.

IT specialist | Full Stack Javascript | nodejs | backbone | mongo

    United Kingdom - Last active: 07/18/2013 - Tests: 1 - Portfolio: 2

"Whatever the job takes" would be a good motto I guess. Hardware, software, systems design, content creation, even the odd bit of graphics and making the coffee when needed. Have to admit I'm no good at graphics design - simple stuff, maybe, but it's not my cup of tea. Recent years have seen projects in Actionscript and Flex then the Ruby and Rails stack with the last 18 months being dedicated to Full Stack Javascript. Nodejs, nosql, redis, server builds, cloud deployment, websockets, backbone, coffeescript, dustjs, AMD, CSS3, bootstrap, stylus — you know, the usual suspects. A fair number of projects have also included the design and implementation of fully distributed solutions based around 0MQ / ZeroMQ. Add to that lot my 30+ years providing IT solutions to a wide variety of clients from governments to small business and well, you get the idea.
