My facility with words derives from a love of literature and a background in French, teaching English, and editing. Over the past 7 years, I've had the opportunity to work with a variety of texts, from academic papers to blogs to web content to novels, and various style guides, including AP, APA, MLA, and Chicago. Though my heart lies in fiction, I'm equally at home with non-fiction; my particular interest areas include sociology, anthropology, psychology, environmental issues, healthy living, nutrition, women's studies, feminist theory, queer theory, critical theory, and critical race theory. However, I welcome all types of texts. Let me help make your pen indeed mightier than the sword, whether it is simply proofreading for small errors or copy editing/line editing to improve structure, flow, word choice, clarity, coherence, and the like. With me, your texts and documents are in good hands.

Detail- Oriented ESL test and training materials

Japan - Last active: 7 days ago

An American national living in Japan, I focus on cultural awareness and international communication. My background as an ESL teacher and as an interpreter for a travel agency gave me the opportunity to work with individuals from around the world. These experiences help in writing concise, clear ESL teaching materials and practical tests with logical explanations for the answers. Now I work from home so that I can take care of my young son. I take pride in professionalism; high-quality, level-appropriate English; and attention to detail. I have a black belt in judo and am interested in textile arts. In addition to academic work, I enjoy writing about my hobbies and about Japan; not flat stereotypes, but real experiences from living in a foreign culture today.

I was born to be a freelancer (I say "Heck No!" to cubicles), and love meeting new clients through Elance and oDesk! I make half of my income through online content creation, social media marketing, blogs, and any other copy work that comes my way. The second half of my income sprouts from my outside creative endeavors where I am an actress and video producer in Portland, Oregon. Creativity and discipline are a great match for me, and I hope to share them with you on your next project. I work well independently and in a team and am trained in article marketing, link building, and social media. Research is my forte, and I have no problem incorporating keywords seamlessly. My clients span diverse fields from kids science education, landscaping, wood floor sanding, and even UVC technology. I am willing to tackle anything, and truly enjoy helping businesses communicate with their desired audience. Message me today for ideas and rates on your next project!

Early in 2014 I left a magazine staff position to pursue freelance writing and editing full-time. I love to explain things, which I've been doing professionally for 25 years, using words, pictures and drawings. In addition, I am a registered Professional Engineer. My experience includes design and construction, with both field and office assignments, as well as writing and editing numerous articles. I also developed the curriculum for an introductory class on Programmable Logic Controllers, subsequently revising it several times, and have taught that class on a continuing basis since 1997.

Expert for translations, editing and ghostwriting

United Kingdom - Last active: 5 days ago

I am a German native speaker, but have been living in Kent/England for 25 years. I graduated from Bonn University in 1984 with an MA-equivalent (First State Exam) after studying English, French and German language and literature and teaching first-year-students during my final terms. I spent the 1978/9 winter term at Edinburgh University where I did a course about systemic grammar and the teaching of literature. I learned that the interpretation of poetry can be based on a matter-of-fact analysis of the structure and how it deviates from ordinary language. This made teaching poetry much easier and clearer, accessible even to sceptics who insisted that interpreting poetry was a matter of taste. After 18 months at the Wiesbaden Teacher Training College I got my teaching qualification (Second State Exam)and decided to teach abroad. With my experience in teaching A-level German I feel well equipped to tackle most translations from English to German or vice versa.

    Tech-savvy sociologist

United States - Last active: 23 hours ago

I have a Ph.D. in Sociology, and I enjoy the opportunity to keep my writing and research skills sharp by working with others on projects that can take advantage of my academic background. My concentrations are in qualitative research methods, social movements, and sociology of emotions; a recent lit-review project has also given me a broad background in Network theory. My passion is helping other conduct great research! Besides my academic training, my work history and general computer/video game geek-ery has resulted in me being well-versed in most common software applications and a smorgasbord of random skills (Google Adwords intergration, web development/design, UI principals, etc.). The way I usually put it is that no matter the setting, I'm the one everyone goes to with their computer problems. I also worked for a patent lawyer for a few years, so I'm pretty familiar with US patent law, particularly post-grant litigation (and I helped write reexam arguments).
