Back in Switzerland, I studied English and Japanese at the University of Geneva, which allowed me to go work in Tokyo, Japan, after earning my Master’s degree. I have had much practice in the field of translation over the course of my university studies. Practice which I have been allowed to complete professionally in Tokyo, where I worked as a translator for the NHK Radio, a French teacher, as well as a movie and documentary subtitle writer. Living in Japan has also taught me how cultural differences between countries are important regarding translation. The Japanese language does contain some very typical and culture-related expressions which can often not be translated directly, but have to be turned into entirely different forms in order to be conveyed properly. Speaking and writing foreign languages as well as translating have become second nature for me. Having studied English and Japanese for more than 12 years, I can say that I master today these 2 languages almost to myy native level of French. I look forward to hearing from you!
