    Software Engineer with graphics specialization

    Canada - Last active: 1 month ago

    I'm currently completing my second Masters, a Master of Computer Science in Human Computer Interaction in which my thesis is on 3D user interface design and methods, essentially creating a new system from scratch. I can work with the desktop and mobile devices, using WebGL, OpenGL ES, DirectX11 and OpenGL 4 specification. I know how to create all types of shaders in glsl and hlsl, and work with immediate mode and the new pipeline very well. I also have learned how to take pseudo code from research and books and implement them as well in shaders. I can apply engineering principles for optimization for rendering engines, and do client/server work as well in c/c++, java, and objective-c, as well as work with computer science algorithms for creating specialized effects and utility functions. I can also program for mobile devices, primarily in iPhone and Windows phone, though I am able to work with Android also.

    Top .NET Programmer with 15+ years of experience

    Germany - Last active: 3 days ago - Tests: 1 - Portfolio: 6

    Over the last 15 years, I have developed a ton of computer, console and mobile games and apps. I am most known for my early .NET skills from 2002, when I developed the first commercial .NET game Arena Wars and became a Microsoft XNA MVP from 2006-2010. Since then I have worked on mobile apps and developing the Delta Engine to make this task easier for .NET programmers. Along the way I picked up a lot of skills with all .NET Frameworks from 1.0 to 4.6, Java, C++, JavaScript and many dynamic languages. I also have a lot of experience with graphics frameworks (OpenGL, ES, DirectX, XNA, Unity3D) and general development libraries and tools (WPF, Forms, SQL, HTML5, Css, Git, Hg, etc.). My core competency lies in completing mobile apps from start to finish and helping teams with their daily development problems. This is what my clients say about me: "I played around with the tool and the code, I have to say that this is beyond my expectations! In my daily job I am a product manager, I am used to work with developers, but I have to say that I have never seen this quality in such a short time."

    Senior C++ Software engineer/Game Developer/MFC Guru

    One of my favorite books is Joel Spolsky's "Smart and Gets Things Done." He talks about the ideal programmer to hire. The one that is not that much more expensive than the others, but saves you 5x the time, and creates a 5x better product than an average programmer. I like to think I am that person. Especially when it comes to C++ computer programming. While new to ODesk, I am certainly not new to software development. I have created many businesses based on technology since I graduated from Oregon State University in 1992. And some that were not technology based, including a luxury fishing lodge in the Alaskan wilderness. I love to program C++ and think it is a great language. I enjoy a hard debugging problem, creating new algorithms, or making code go very fast, always keeping the it readable and maintainable. I have worked in the trenches hunkered over a computer for 20+ hours a day, and have managed other programmers and set the direction of the company. My development environment is a Windows 7 PC with 6 large monitors for better productivity. Fast SSD drives and CPU means you are not paying for long compilation times. I love a good challenge and look forward to working with you. My Strengths ============= Project management: I have owned multiple companies through the years and have had direct management of the projects and company direction with all of them. Programming: I have been programming C++ almost since its inception. I have written probably over a million lines of code since I began and loved every one of them. Although nothing pleases me more than deleting code when it is replaced by cleaner, more robust code. I have some skills in Visual Basic/Script, HTML, CCS, and Javascript. Problem Solving: I feel I am good at breaking down a problem and solving it in simple and robust ways. Debugging: This is one of my specialties. It is rare that I cannot find the source of a bug, even very complicated ones involving heap/stack corruption. Code Design: Nothing pleases me more than implementing a strong design that can be extended and maintained. Speed is important but readability is usually more important. 98% of time is spent executing 2% of code so over optimizing at the expense of readability is something I try to avoid. Optimization: When it needs to be, I love making code race like a Ferrari. I always benchmark the code and make sure it is faster, and not just assume it is faster. Technologies ============ Languages: C/C++ (18 yrs experience), HTML/CSS (2 years), Javascript (Some), Visual Basic (3 Years) Windows: MFC, Desktop applications, DLL development, Systems Administration. Platforms: Microsoft Developer Studio 2003, 2008, 2013, Marmalade, Remote Debugging, Perforce VCS Systems: Windows 95/98/2000/XP/Vista/7 Hardware: PCs, Pen Computers Databases: PostgreSQL, ODBC APIs: Amazon, MFC, libcURL, REST, DLL, COM, DirectX, DirectSound, XML, DirectPlay, Flickr, Autodesk, 3DS Max, Codejock, SpeedTree, Install Shield, Yacc/Lex, Areas: Multi threading, C++ Templates, Client/Server, Image Processing, Relational Database Design.

    Mac/Win desktop software developer C++/Qt/C#/Java

    Russia - Last active: 10/20/2014

    I am a software developer with more than 15 years of experience. My experience includes a variety of languages, libraries, tools and technologies. My strength is the ability to quickly understand new areas. In other words, my main skill - lifelong learning new things. For me, nothing is impossible. But I'm not Superman, there are areas of skills which I will not touch because it will lead to an inefficient use of my resources. For example, Windows driver development. Since 2011, I started working for myself. Currently working on a shareware software product (visution.com). But now it is possible to take on other interesting projects. In recent years I have focused on the following areas: Windows/Mac OS, C++, GCC, MinGW, Qt, QML, QtCreator, OpenGL, GLSL, FFmpeg, VLCLib and others libs and tools. Also has considerable experience of the recent past in the areas: .Net, C#, Java, HTML4/CSS/Javascript. You can see for 4-5 years outdated resume here - this: http://www.ryaboff.com/cv.html

    I worked for Activision for 8 years as a technology programmer. For the last 2 years I've been creating Android applications and live wallpapers. I specialize in C++ programming on Android with the NDK but am also proficient with Java and application design. My strong background in game development and C++ expertise means I can create lightning fast and memory-efficient Android games and applications. I'm also very proficient with Java, OpenGL and real-time audio programming. My time at Activision's was at the Beenox studio in Quebec City. During my time there I completed 3 conversion projects for clients and shipped 5 in-house AAA titles. I was an engine/technology programming and worked directly on several consoles including the Wii, 3DS and XBox 360, as well as PC and Macintosh. I'm a graduate of the University of Waterloo, with a bachelor of mathematics (major in computer science).
