My focus is mainly on iOS programming, I always look for opportunities to learn something new or perfect the skills I have. With 6 years of commercial iOS programming experience, I worked on a wide range of projects from developing iPad games for kids, through medium sized applications to advance applications such as mobile payment apps that meet highest security standards. I have considerable experience with leading and managing iOS development teams using methodologies such as: Agile, Scrum and others. Software Developer

    United States - Last active: 08/08/2014 - Tests: 7

I am a creative, effective and highly adaptive software engineer with a 37 year track record of innovation. I've designed, developed, maintained, and supported software and databases using a wide variety of technologies including: SQL Databases: DB2, MS SQL Server, MySQL, SQLite, Paradox, DBase, MS Access. Other databases including SAS, IMS DB, IDMS, VSAM. Database design using Normalization and Entity/Relationship Diagrams. Programming Languages: Delphi, C/C++, Pascal, Perl, REXX, SAS, SAS Macros, PL/1, Fortran, BASIC, various macro languages, CLISTs, CMS Execs, and light experience with Visual Basic. Application frameworks including VCL, DevExpress VCL components, FireMonkey, CXL, CICS, IMS DC, ISPF Dialog Manager, and ADF. I've also done some light work with Embarcadero's HTML5 Builder. Various data reporting and query engines including Business Objects, Crystal Reports, QMF, and embedding SQL queries in Excel. Systems Analysis using Object Oriented Analysis and Design (Coad/Yourdon) and extensive experience with various Structured Development LifeCycle Methodologies (SDLCs included Yourdon/DeMarco/Page-Jones, Warnier/Orr, Jackson). I've done light study and experimentation with Theory of Constraints process modeling (TOC). Targeted product platforms included Windows, MS DOS, zOS / MVS, TSO, VM/CMS, DOS/VS, and light work for Unix, Macintosh, Android, and iOS. I've designed, developed, and maintained websites using Joomla, FrontPage, NetObjects Fusion, and other tools. I also worked briefly with Wordpress blogs. I've done consulting, data collection, and reporting for software metrics and software product/project sizing (using Function Points and Lines of Code using Boehm's COCOMO model). My products have had high impact e.g. I developed a software performance database and GUI graphing "Prospector" toolkit that saved one company $6-8 million dollars per year, for 6+ consecutive years, by enabling them to rapidly prioritize high impact software re-engineering and problem diagnosis. During one my Prospector demos, one audience member said "you've just done in 1-2 minutes what takes me 8-10 hours every day". During one Y2K conversion project, I designed and created automation to diagnose and remediate database impact. It eliminated more than a thousand hours of labor from the project. Another system I refactored had about 1,000 modules ALL needing modifications EVERY year. I redesigned it into about 100 comparable reusable/sharable modules, with only about 10 needing modifications per year. Doing so dramatically reduced support labor. Shortly after I joined Sabre Holdings in 1982, they became one of the first American companies to use IBMs DB2, I was one of the first Sabre technologists to pioneer using DB2, as both Database Administrator (DBADM) and application developer.

Software Engineer Specializing in Java, iOS and We App Development

    United States - Last active: 08/16/2014 - Tests: 1 - Portfolio: 1

As a software engineer, your greatest asset is time. Developers are expensive. Developers who write unmaintainable code are unimaginably more so expensive, leaving behind a mess that can introduce bugs, delay features, or at worst, kill a software project in its tracks. I have cultivated a passion for clean, maintainable code that is easily modifiable and understandable by any developer. Using techniques such as test driven development and refactoring whenever needed, I feel like one can create an environment where features can be delivered at a sustainable pace with minimal risk. All this while keeping the confidence that these features and all past features are kept in a working state. My primary interests as a developer are agile practices, TDD, XP, mobile software engineering (iOS), client/server web app development, big data, functional programming and algorithmically challenging problems.

I'm a freelance iOS developer and recent Stanford grad living in San Francisco, California. After making static websites in elementary school and learning the basics of programming in high school, I explored sociology, economics and Russian at university. But I couldn't escape the appeal of creating in the digital realm. I love programming in Objective-C (iOS), and in my free time I'm learning front- and back-end web dev. But what really excites me is connecting the physical and digital worlds... INCEPTION. Whether you are starting with an idea or already have an Android app that you would like adapted to iOS, every project begins with defining and refining. I can quickly give you an idea of what is doable, where the challenges lie, and what resources will be required. DEVELOPMENT. I build iOS apps in their native language, Objective-C. Need an iOS version of your SaaS solution? Want to explore brand new technologies like iBeacon? I'll code it up. No designer? No problem--I have friends in high places. USERS & DATA. If you do not already have a cloud solution, I will show you a range of options, from plug-and-play solutions (BaaS: parse.com, built.io) to AWS. LAUNCH YOUR APP. Before going live, I will let you test the app privately. I can even send test versions to you remotely. Then when you're ready, I will work with Apple to get your app accepted to the App Store. After diving headfirst into the iOS SDK back in December of 2011 and coming out 1 week later with a simple Flashlight app that is now used by more than 300 people a day, I never looked back. I immediately fell in love with the possibilities mobile phone development brought to the table and have now built 3 iPhone apps of my own and worked for 2 mobile based startups, WhatsApp and Happier. My first internship was with WhatsApp Inc. during the summer of 2012. At WhatsApp I spent a lot of time working their in-house support and translation team to build an in house CMS for the support documents. Although I did not get to spend anytime working on their iPhone app, I spent nearly all of my non-work hours building joox.fm (http://joox.fm). A music app that aimed to make listening to music with friends more fun. From there I landed a 6 month internship at Happier Inc. where I worked one-on-one with their lead iOS dev to help build their premiere 1.0 Happier client and ship it to the App Store. After a huge demand for a Web and Android client, I started building Happier's webapp https://www.happier.com. I built happier.com from the ground up using cutting edge HTML5 technologies like localStorage, pushState and AppCache.
