My legal career spans ten years, and has explored firms both small and large, the United States Attorney’s Office, and an in-house legal team.
The summary below provides a flavor of projects and skills I offer, broken into relevant sections relating to: investigations, legal research, large volume records management, subpoenas, trial support, intellectual property and contracts.
I. Investigations. Review and identify pertinent documents specific to a defendant or charge. Substantial experience outlining reports, evidence, and lab results from FBI, DEA, ATF, HSI, IRS and multiple police departments. Converge information into constructive spreadsheets. Ability to understand, apply, and track compliance with federal regulations.
II. Legal research. Summarize opposing counsel cited authority - provide fact pattern synopsis and applicable legal principles. Locate authority to support legal arguments. Provide analysis of historical interpretation and application of the law. Proof and cite check briefs.
III. Summarize large volume records. Review and provide memorandums regarding voluminous electronic records. Experience managing white collar and drug traffic organization investigations (high volume bank records, police reports, transcripts, medical records, phone records). Generate bates scheme allowing similar documents to remain in consecutive order. Track document source, bates ranges, and disclosure status.
IV. Subpoenas. Draft subpoena rider outlining records request. Field questions from entity receiving document request, track service and document receipt.
V. Trial. Create high-level demonstratives using Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator and photoshop. Draft jury instructions. Manage Jencks, Brady and Giglio records. Request and maintain relevant 404(b) records. Provide legal research regarding various issues arising during trial. Witness coordination. Exhibit management. Experience with several large-scale multiple defendant federal trials.
VI. Intellectual Property. Research trademark availability, summarize findings and make recommendation. File trademark application with USPTO. Monitor potential infringement, draft cease and desist correspondence. Document review and tagging for matters being litigated.
VII. Contracts. Review and negotiate contract terms. Draft service agreements and confidentiality agreements. Summarize terms of contracts to non-legal personnel.
