    Freelance Writer and Paralegal

    United States - Last active: 1 month ago - Tests: 7 - Portfolio: 3

I’m just like every other freelance writer and author. I put my pants on one leg at a time. Except for, one time, I put my pants on and wrote a book called Haunted Asylums, Prisons, and Sanatoriums for Llewellyn Worldwide LTD. It went on to become their top-selling paranormal book of 2014. Now I always wear pants. How did an unknown author reach that top category? The idea itself was novel. I traveled to ten of the arguably most haunted locations in the country, went ghost-hunting, took photos and secured releases, and wrote a book. I used my natural, informal, conversational voice, and that engaged my readers. As great as it would be to think the book was just awesome on its own, I think the truth is that I did a lot of background work (hundreds of hours, maybe?) before it ever hit the market that helped give it that extra push. Months before the book was released, I worked with the publicity team to develop a target audience and brainstorm how to reach them.
