I have enjoyed a wide variety of careers: teaching elementary school, consultant for Computer Curriculum Corporation, director of an art gallery, a technical writer for three corporations, and Project Coordinator for an internet technology firm. Best of all, I was the Education Services Writer for The Miami Herald/el Nuevo Herald Newspaper-In-Education chapter with a readership of about 120,000 students per week in the school year. I created the Open a New Window Character Education series of 39 stories, featured in many newspapers across the country. I was the Broadway Reporter for the news website of a leading producer of ticketing software. I wrote two books about communities in South Florida and am currently marketing a Middle Grade mystery and several Early Reader stories while completing a Young Adult science fiction story. Needless to say, I am an avid reader. I also paint in water-color and oils, and enjoy performing and singing in Little Theater. All this and time with my wonderful husband of 18 years, my two children, and living on a lake in South Carolina!

Working with Lanier Worldwide provided me with excellent technical skills, including soldering wires in a fax machine and building my own PC. After that experience, I turned to using my English degree and skills and became a technical writer. I believe that good technical writing is all about communications - getting the idea(s) across to the reader without causing distractions.

Instructional Designer specializing in eLearning and video

United States - Last active: 09/25/2013

I have more than 15 years' experience developing eLearning, web and classroom-based training, producing educational video, and managing blended learning programs for a variety of industries. My work as an instructional designer has led me down many different roads; from creating a video-based blended learning program for a non-profit organization serving low income immigrant women, to developing online end-user systems training from hundreds of employees at a large utilities company. I welcome these types of changes and challenges because I thrive on learning new things and helping others do the same. I am adept at quickly learning new content with every project, and forging relationships with various people throughout the development process. I am very comfortable working either on a virtual team or onsite, as the project requires. My skills include development tools such as Articulate Storyline, Smartbuilder, User Productivity Kit, Camtasia, and video production and editing. I believe training can (and should) be fun, regardless of the subject matter and delivery method. Training can have a huge impact on an organization's success. If you are looking for someone who is easy to get along with, has a great sense of humor, and thrives on creating educational media that is insightful and exciting, while maintaining a high standard of instructional integrity, than I am your perfect candidate!

Instructional Design Expert I Certified Trainer & Assessor I NLP Pract

India - Last active: 1 month ago - Tests: 7

I'm a senior Instructional Design professional with over 12 years of corporate ID experience. I'm a certified Trainer and Assessor from Australia with a TAA40104 certification. I’m also a certified NLP Practitioner from Vitality College, UK. I've worked for several Fortune 100 and 500 clients, such as Caterpillar, The Arts Institute Online, Pittsburgh, UNFPA, BAI, CVS Pharmacy Chain, Citigroup, CITCO in The United States of America (USA), Scania in Europe, and Ministry of Defense in The United Kingdom (UK) to name a few. I've worked on several delivery media, such as CBT, WBT, Online and Blended. I've created, developed and reviewed several storyboards and visualized for the media for the course graphics. The output has been either in MS PowerPoint or HTML-based pages that were included as part of an online course. I've also developed the initial course design map and an extensive storyboard in MS Word as per the client requirement. I also worked with a registered training organisation (RTO) in Perth, Australia in 2010, where I worked as a Training Design Consultant. I single-handedly developed the learning management system (LMS) and delivered the 'Diploma of Management' qualification online. The project was funded by the Australian government. It was delivered within the time-frames specified and the standards defined. It was a huge success and was completed on time. The project got over in December 2010. I also volunteer extensively with NGOs and government / private-sector schools across towns and villages in my country. I help them build and improve their student curriculum. I also conduct train the trainer (in this case, teachers) workshops on effective teaching methodologies. At present, I'm volunteer consulting with United Nations Volunteers (UNV) to set up their e-learning capability. I’m also designing online courses for their volunteers deputed around the world. At present, their courses are being created in MS PowerPoint.
