Today we all live in what is known as a global community. On a daily basis we come across people who come from different cultural backgrounds, have different experience and speak various languages, both in professional and personal settings.
I believe it is vital that we are capable to build a bridge in order to communicate effectively despite the varieties and personal differences. Once it is established, we can all benefit from it by widening the spectrum of our knowledge. It allows us to become a fully integrated part of today’s society.
I was always fascinated by the fact that there are a vast number of languages spoken all around the world. I have learnt that being capable to speak a foreign language enables us to narrow the existing cultural gap between speakers coming from different, sometimes very distant parts of the world. Personally, I find the English language very fascinating. Firstly, because of its rich history and that it became a language that is spoken all over the globe. Secondly, as a Polish speaker, the differences between Polish and English and the usage of both languages helped me understand the English customs and made me realize how a language affects its speaker’s mentality.
In 2006 I decided to further study the English language, history and culture and joined the Philological School of Higher Education in Wroclaw, Poland. I have developed a new skillset in the field of translation. I have received a BA in English – specialty translation. In 2009 I began my MA course at the University of Wroclaw where I have further improved and strengthen my linguistic abilities as well as develop myself as a translator of commercial and business texts. Also, I have undertaken a course in film translation and subtitling in order to widen my professional skills and become proficient in my field. From 2009, I have taken various translation projects on a freelance basis. At the same time I have accepted a position of an English teacher (English as a foreign language) in a local public primary school in Żary, Poland, where I come from. I have also taught English at several language service centres providing language courses to employees of local businesses. The experience I gained over the years helped me to establish myself as a reliable professional with strong professional knowledge and skills
In my persistent pursuit of a deeper understanding of the English language and customs in 2011 I have moved to Manchester, UK., Since then travelling widely around the UK and polishing my language and translation skills. I have proven myself to be flexible and adaptable as well as self-disciplined. Moving from one location to another requires planning and organization with the ability to change plans and adapt to arising situations quickly and smoothly. I was also part in multiple translation and subtitling projects which helped me to gain additional experience by working for agencies in the UK. In addition, I have been working in customer service sector. In 2013 I have accepted a position of a customer service advisor at Laterooms.com where I further improved my English speaking skills that allow me to fully integrate with the local community. Although, I enjoyed the time spent on creating new set of skills I am aware that customer service in not the career path I wish to follow.
Recently I moved from Manchester to Cambridge with my partner. I have been offered a position of Project Coordinator at Simply Outsourced LTD being responsible for allocation and distribution of EPOS engineer visits to engineers as per the schedules, update the call management system where requested to ensure the correct information is submitted, liaise with customers to plan work effectively etc.
I am a multi-skilled, reliable, motivated and talented person. I see myself as a quick learner who can absorb new ideas and can communicate clearly and effectively with people from all social and professional backgrounds. Well mannered, articulate and fully aware of diversity and multicultural issues. I am flexible in the ability to adapt to challenges when they arise and at the same time remaining aware of professional roles and boundaries. I would like to work for a successful and ambitious company that offers great opportunities for career development and progression. I strongly believe I am ready to fully commit to work as a translator in order to help to create a communication bridge between the English and Polish language speakers and help them to achieve effective communication on both professional and personal levels.
