I am a traditionally trained C/C++ programmer, though I have a wide range of experience in python/perl/php, and have worked with web technology all of my life. (X)HTML and AJAX are giving way to WebSockets; it's a very exciting time to develop for the web! My web focus has been on B2B businesses needing improved ranking in order to meet more customers, especially by targetting niche markets (especially the Latin markets) with customized language and graphics. Every site should have internationalizing! I am fluent in both Spanish and French and have a strong background in application internationalization, accessibility concerns, and teaching. I was in Spanish club throughout my academic career (6 years) and lead it for the last three years of high school. If not for restrictions on leadership roles, I would have lead the club in college as well. I have ESL experience; I love tutoring children so that they can succeed in learning new primary languages and integrating into their new culture with ease. I have worked on internationalization in qt applications, and have a focus on C/C++ applications. While Unicode has solved many problems in the internationalization front, problems with word expansions, list formats, dates, and character combinations leads us to look for more advanced solutions. In C, iconv, and in C++, Boost.Locale are an enormous help to this process, and I am an expert in each. Even between two very similar dialects of English (Australian and American), there are notable differences that can trip up developers. I'm an expert in locating and fixing such errors. Finally, I have worked with individuals who need enhanced accessibility; did you know a triple A game (Bioshock2) published by a large scale publisher (2k games) featured a mini-game that was inaccessible to 10% of the population? It used red and green shades that cannot be easily seen by those with red-green colorblindness! Identifying these problems and allowing software to be accessed by the blind, deaf, or those using non-standard input devices is a major strength of mine.
