Rails Developer and Technology Consultant
Last active: 3 months ago
My development philosophy is simple: "Communicate effectively to complete projects on time, under budget, and without headache."
I was born and raised in the US and graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in Philosophy and Technology Management, focusing on New Venture Creation. I am classically trained in Computer Science, having worked for the past three years as a freelance software developer and technology consultant.
I have helped hundreds of companies upgrade their technical infrastructure and move it to the cloud as well as streamline and automate their workflows with new web applications. I have developed custom proprietary software systems for multi-million-dollar companies that are active today with thousands of users.
I am happy to work on both new and existing projects. I am also happy to get involved early on in the project lifecycle to assist with technical feasibility, selection of appropriate technology stack, and creation of specifications.
*** Technical Skills ***
*** Communication, Organization and Project Management Skills ***
I have excellent communication skills and habits which means that my clients spend zero time "managing" me. If specifications are not clear, I work with my clients to help them figure out what they really want so that there are no surprises upon delivery. If I am not going to make a deadline, I let my clients know well in advance.
I am well versed in Agile development as well as more traditional "waterfall" approaches. I complete quick iterations and provide roadmaps and development timelines, involving clients at every step.
*** Why Me? ***
I have managed sales teams, contractors, consultants, and have experience working as a freelance software developer myself, so I understand what is important in remote management situations such as oDesk. This allows me to help my clients avoid common pitfalls and ensure that projects are delivered on time, under budget, and without headache.
