Linguist: Writer | Translator | Proofreader | Editor | Blogger
Thanks for taking a moment to take a look at my profile!
I am a linguist with strong writing, researching, editing, and proofreading skills, specializing in English scholarly writing, translation, transcription, and research in second language acquisition. My passion for language has driven me towards multilingualism, a B.A. in Foreign Language and Literatures, an M.A. in Applied Linguistics, and a career in language education. As I write this, I am approaching graduation, wrapping up my research, academic writing, and final projects while living nomadically (currently in Bali, Indonesia).
While I am new to freelancing work, I have over 2100 hours of private language and academic tutoring experience during which I managed the private education of up to 12 individual clients or groups at a time (self-employed). Two years of simultaneous travel, research, and academic writing also lends itself to a confidence in my ability to complete quality, detail oriented work independently and in a timely matter.
If you’ve read this far, I invite you to take a look at my experience and education. At the moment, I am particularly interested in finding work that would allow me the opportunity to apply my passion and language skills to strengthening and refining the writing of others, bringing it closer to target-like constructions (for second language English or Spanish) or simply proofreading for problematic grammar, spelling, or style. I am eager to work with both academic and non-scholarly writing – essays, articles, reviews, proposals, sales/marketing copy, creative writing, etc.
