    United States - Last active: 3 months ago - Tests: 4 - Portfolio: 2

In January 2011 I completed my dietetic internship and my Masters Degree in Human Nutrition at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. I am now at UGA getting my PhD in food science with an emphasis on sensory evaluation of foods. I have created educational materials on topics as diverse as healthy cooking, vitamin supplementation, cooking for children, and bariatric surgery. Prior to my work in Baltimore, I taught baking and cooking classes for two years on the collegiate and professional level. By combining my undergraduate degree in psychology, my masters in nutrition, and my PhD in food science, I aim to convey to the public a well-rounded view on topics like the psychology of eating behavior, the effect of industrial food processing on nutrition, and the balance between being satisfied and being healthy. Along with my dedication to food and nutrition, I have other talents that I hope to make use of in a job environment. I initially studied art as an undergraduate and have since put my talent to use in graphic design, technical illustration, and other creative works. In the last six years I have also had experience with computer programming, flash animation, and voice over acting. Please let me know if you would like to see portfolio materials relating to any of these skills.

Lustrous beads of sweat gather at her temples to take the long slide en masse over the crimson glow of her cheekbones and down the craned arch of her neck. Her grip tightens like a fleshy wrench around her husband’s wrist as she settles herself with aplomb into a deep squat against the bathroom sink. Finally, she sounds her battle cry: “The baby’s coming!” … That was my last job. After earning a BA at UC Berkeley and an MS from Columbia University I’ve spent the last five years in joyful service as a nurse midwife; now I'm making a steady transition back to writing, my first true love. I enjoy creative writing, but that’s not the whole story. I also have experience producing fresh website content, articles, brochures, and educational materials. My knowledge base lies mainly in conventional and holistic medicine, nutrition and the culinary arts; however, I take delight in researching new topics and relish a challenge. When it comes time to deploy your vision I can assist with setting up and designing custom content management systems and blogs. I have refined my practices of collaboration and precise communication during five years of working closely with doctors, nurses, administrators and patients from all walks of life. I am impeccable with my word, maintain excellent time integrity, and insist on submitting only the finest quality of work. I look forward to turning your project into a masterpiece.

I am a Culinary Arts graduate from Austin Peay State University. I am currently an Adjunct instructor for Austin Peay"s Culinary arts department. My husband is military and I took advantage of always moving by writing a food blog about local restaurant experiences to make it easier for families moving to the area to know of good locations to take their family. I also ran a Family Readiness Group, in which I offered support and info on deployments, helped others adjust to new posts/areas. I held monthly information meetings regarding information being passed from the BN Commanders to the Company Commanders onto myself. I organized and ran fund raisers and volunteer projects through the community. I have had to deal with people on very personal levels to include helping them obtain information for personal needs, getting food for their family and in a few cases I have been a liaison for families after the notification of the death of their soldier. I host yearly dinners for soldiers that have no where to go during the holidays and host Friday night dinners and game nights. Getting many local stores to donate items/money to causes. I have worked in retail for several years before children. I would be in charge of inventory, stocking, updating new items into the computer, hiring, firing and accounting. I would like to run my own Bed and Breakfast upon our retirement from the military. I have great knowledge of computers and programs. I have worked with power point slides and Microsoft. I have worked in the past with customer service and telemarketing. I have also worked in catering local events with my own cooking and cake decorating. I have a vast knowledge of food and cooking techniques from all around the world and gained close friendships with many families from other countries.

I have an unquenchable obsession with food. I spent the past sixteen years teaching myself to get around the kitchen, and I think I'm finally somewhat competent. I'm a volunteer chef for Mercy Chefs. Though I'm not a "trained" chef, I have the coat. The coat makes the man, right? Anyway, Mercy Chefs is a nonprofit organization that provides hot meals to victims and relief workers in the wake of a disaster. My last Mercy Chef deployment was in Colorado after the flooding in September 2013. Volunteering has been getting expensive, so I recently started a small catering company to help offset the costs incurred with gas, hotels, and pancakes. (I can't cook all the time). I've also recently started blogging to share recipes I may have uncovered, or occasionally, a real, honest to goodness recipe I developed myself.
