Jake specializes in camera operations, FCP editing/mastering, and time lapse photography. Jake is a graduate from Western Michigan University, earning his degree with high honors in Film and Video Production. In 2005, at age 16, he started his film production company, Jake Durrett Films, which now provides professional video services in Southwest Michigan, New York City, Maine, and the San Francisco Bay Area. With extensive experience providing professional and creative video art to large, high profile clients, Jake Durrett Films can create powerful and unique media that goes beyond typical video.
In addition to video, Jake is a Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux hardware and software support specialist, specializing in end user desktop support and IT architecture.
In the summer of 2007, Jake Durrett attended the Adobe Reel Ideas Studio student filmmaker program at the Cannes Film Festival on the southern coast of France. There, his documentary “The Carousel” received a first place ranking. He worked and learned from numerous industry professionals, including Michael Moore in France and Chris Coppola at the 2007 PAH-Fest in New Mexico.
In the summer of 2006, Jake co-founded the Battle Creek Film Festival in his hometown of Battle Creek, MI, and in 2009, helped coordinate the first Western Michigan University Third Coast Film Festival. In the fall of 2008, he worked as both a New-media and GOTV intern on the Obama for America campaign, gaining critical communication and organization skills. In 2009-2010, he produced videos for The WMU College of Arts and Sciences and The WMU School of Dance, working as a cinematographer, editor, and producer.
Jake Durrett works independently as a professional cinematographer, IT Systems Support Engineer, Mac OS X and Final Cut specialist.
