    I have been a medical transcriptionist for many years. I worked in a hospital/clinic setting for 28 years and then started working from home, having worked from home since 2007. During my career, I have transcribed many types of reports, including radiology, emergency room, acute care, rehabilitation, diagnostic reports and clinic notes. Medical transcriptionists must have excellent command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, sentence structure, etc. I have excellent skills in these areas. Working at home has required me to have time management skills as well as the ability to find solutions to problems that arise. I have transcribed for many physicians, including many who had English as their second language. One of the aspects of medical transcription is being able to think quickly while transcribing and being able to change the wording, verb tense or grammar in the reports. All my work has to be correct for the safety of the patient, such as correct dosages of medicines, correct times of receiving medicines, correct laboratory and testing results and correct diagnoses. While working in the hospital/clinic setting, my duties included answering the telephone, dealing with patients, physicians and administrators, as well as ordering supplies and contacting technicians for equipment repair and upkeep.
